Blood pressure meds - small baby?

Hi all,

I'm 25+2. Had an appointment with the obstetrician today. I had high blood pressure so was on meds before pregnancy, but was switched at 5 months pregnant to a different medication. Today, obstetrician (who I'd not met before) told me that there was a risk with blood pressure meds that the baby might not grow as quickly as she normally would.

Has anyone heard this, or been on bp meds and delivered a small baby? How small? My and DH are are quite slim already so I'm worried she'll be tiny. Also what if I get pre-eclampsia and she has to be delivered early? She'll be minute! Arrrrrgh ...

No one has suggested there's anything wrong with her growth so far, but now I'm worried ...

I always thought it was the high blood pressure that was the cause of small baby, not the actual meds. I had high blood pressure in pregnancy and went on meds, I did end up with pre.eclampsia and delivered very early with a small for dates baby. So it's sensible to be aware of the signs and symptoms of pe,.as having pre existing hypertension is a risk factor for pe.

I had raised blood pressure in my last pregnancy but never high enough to be put on meds just monitoring ( almost daily in the last few weeks). DS was born full term at only 5lb 10oz and during my current pregnancy they are monitoring my blood pressure and having regular growth scans as they feel ds's low birth weight was due to high blood pressure.
