Hospital bag at 30 weeks??

I've just had an email from bounty saying I should pack my hospital bag as I'm 30 weeks now! Wtf??
Seriously this is bonkers yes?? My first was 12 days late and I don't think I had my bag packed before 35 weeks!!

I can't see how it would do any harm, and I expect there are plenty of people with premature babies who didn't expect one. I started packing mine around then and repacked and adjusted it from time to time

I had DS at 33 weeks. I plan to pack my hospital bag at 30weeks this time and relax. Hoping this DC will bake a bit longer.Being prepared helps me relax

I packed mine as soon as the baby was viable after a premature baby last time. Honestly, it's better to be organised than having the most random stuff brought in by partners. Also sometimes things happen e.g. bleeds that require bedrest. So much nicer with your own stuff.

I thought this and just packed my back now at 39 weeks but I am massively unorganised. There were people in my antenatal group due after me who have 6 week old babies now so I can see why they suggest it.

Just another person who had a premature baby and no hospital bag. Massively regretted it when I send DH home for underwear and he came back with a bikini and a thong!

At 36 weeks I was having contractions so got my mum to help me sling a few things in a bag just in case! I honestly don't see what the big deal is, I really did not need much and anything missing husband/mum popped to the shop for

I packed mine the day I went in for induction but this time I'll be more organised - I won't pack but will write a very specific DH friendly list! I use too many things daily to pack them up in advance.

I'm 34 weeks and have mine packed as I spent a week in hospital at 32 weeks where they nearly induced me as baby wasn't doing well. It was unexpected. So yes I would most definitely pack a bag even if it's just babies stuff and a bag to labour in as you never know what can happen x

Had a bleed last week (27 weeks) in an otherwise great pregnancy. Hospital bag is well on it's way to being packed after that!

On my last pregnancy I packed a bag at 12 weeks! I had been in and out of hospital with bleeds and one night I went in with a really heavy one and to my shock they admitted me. I had nothing with me and I was truly miserable (and cold) so as soon as they let me out I packed a bag with pjs, dressing gown, underwear, slippers, toiletries and a phone charger. It just sat in the wardrobe thankfully untouched and I added bits and pieces to it as I went further along, including the baby stuff. No harm to have it done as in an emergency situation you don't want to have to think of it.

Packed mine when I felt my first contractions at 6 days overdue! Second time round I packed it when I felt my first contractions at 2 days overdue. Both times I was discharged 3 hours after giving birth and didn't use anything in them anyway except shower gel and clean underwear!

Do people really have spare pyjamas (that will fit them at all stages of pregnancy) and dressing gowns and slippers that they can just leave untouched in a bag for weeks/months? I get having a bag with some toiletries, knickers and maternity pads but I can't imagine having a full bag just packed waiting for months

The only problem with packing early, IME, is that you want stuff in your hospital bag which you'll also want to wear during the last few weeks - most comfortable leggings and bra, for example.
But there's no harm in putting some baby stuff in a bag, just in case. Last time I packed mine at around 35 weeks, I think, but was obviously still adding a lot of stuff (phone charger, bra, etc) after I went into labour.

I'm an early packer and just packed cheap stuff e.g. slippers that cost £1.50 and cheap PJs so no big deal leaving them in the bag as I'll leave my best stuff at home (to not get wrecked!) Dressing gown - not bothering as it's so hot on the ward. Toiletries - just teeny ones from hotels.
So just a bag of cheap essentials to get me through an unexpected hospital admission for a night until stuff could be brought in.

cheese it was just a cheap oversized pair of pjs and ballet slippers from primark so only a few quid total and an old dressing gown - nothing I would actually miss using. It was the bare essentials to get me through a night until someone could come to me the next day. The vast majority of people will never need it in the earlier stages - I recognise that.

I went into preterm labour at 31 weeks, luckily baby stayed put until 38 weeks but after that I packed a hospital bag.
I brought some oversized nightys and pj's from primark.
A pack of black a size bigger knickers.
A few packs of maternity pads and breast pads.
Wash stuff, black leggings a long top.
And for baby a small pack of nappies, wipes/cottonwool depending on how you want to clean babys bum.
A few sleep suits,vests a going home outfit if you want/or for pictures.
Hat and a cardigan and a blanket and a few bibs.
And don't forget carseat.
You may think your only be in a few hours but you never know what can happen.
And husband is pretty good at picking up stuff, but I want him with me after baby not going off for a few hours to pick up stuff that I could of packed.
Also if not breastfeeding ask what the hospital supplys as some don't and others only a certain type of formula.

20 weeks here and while I've not packed a bag I have got a list of stuff to shove in a bag (the baby's bag will obviously be full of carefully selected, beautifully folded and perfectly placed items for my PFB )

I'll probably sort it all out after Christmas. DH is already wondering what snacks to pack in his bag.....

Last time I packed mine at 7cm. Mind you I was planning a home birth.

I'm 36weeks now, I keep meaning to pack it, have done so many times in my head but struggling to muster up the energy to do it for real. Last baby born at 40 +12 so not feeling too much urgency yet.
