Pregnancy

Is there any way of guessing roughly how pregnant I may be?

I haven't had a period for over a year. Have been tested on and off for fertility issues finding nothing at all.

Went to a specialist this week and just had a call to say I'm pregnant.

Unfortunatley it's not happy news now as the past year has destroyed the relationship I had with DH and we are separating.

I have had no symptoms or signs at all.
I have noticed only in the past few days that I am going for a wee more often, and my stomach is a little tougher than normal but other than that all normal.

I'm worried i could have been pregnant for a while as because of the troubles in the relationship I have been drinking more, smoking and not sleeping at all and very stressed

When did you last have sex?

If you haven't had a period for over a year, and also haven't taken note of when you've had sex then there is no way of knowing for sure without a scan.

I have PCOS and only had two periods last year so was difficult for me to assess how far gone I was without a scan. I was only 3 weeks out of what I thought I was.

I would be very surprised if they didn't offer you a dating scan based on your medical history. If you do decide to go down the termination route they will do a scan anyway and tell you how far gone you are.

The most reliable way is having a scan. I would see your doctor to be sent for a scan to determine how far along you are.
Regarding the smoking etc. don't beat yourself up, you didn't know you were pregnant. Just concentrate on having a healthy pregnancy from now x

Monday morning, phone GP re scan. Or if you have a hospital with a Early Pregnancy Unit, go straight there and see if they will scan you. Google them now in case you can go tomorrow.

When was the last time you had unprotected sex? Without periods, this will only really tell you that you the minimum number of weeks along you could be. So you will be at least that many weeks.

I really don't want to get back together with my husband after everything.
I am living with parents now and they really want me to get back with him but he was financially controlling and emotional abusive.

I won't be able to tell anyone as it will just give them a more reason to push me back together with him.

I haven't done a pregnancy test in over 6 months.

There would be no reason I could be really far gone and a termination be too late?

I'm really panicking now.
I am alone, out of work and just about to embark on a potentially stressful career move with long commutes

Ok, focus on the immediate question. When was the last time you had unprotected sex?

The reason why it is important is because there is a huge difference between 5 weeks and 5 months ago on this one.

Could you afford circa £120 for a private dating scan? That would be quickest. If you stick with NHS you will get a scan eventually and they will work out approximate dates then but in your position I think I would want to know in days rather than weeks.

Don't fret too much about the drinking/smoking etc. The level of paranoia we have in our culture about pregnant women is a very recent invention.

I have had sex with DH about 2 months ago.

I have had unprotected sex with a male friend more recently - a week ago .

I am a horrible horrible person and j have no idea what I'm going to do or how I'm ever going to move on

Far more likely to be husband than male friend if it was a week ago, as in 7 days. 10 days and it could be them. You need a scan. If you are considering terminating then you need to speak to your gp asap. Get a scan to find out how far gone you are and then talk through your options.

If I've noticed just recently my stomach getting harder what could that mean timing wise?

I'm no doctor but if you had tests done earlier this week just a few days after sex with male friend, it is not his.

Feeling tighter around the waist, needing to wee more over the past few weeks would certainly sound like first trimester symptoms to me. So 2-3 months. But as I said, I'm no doctor. The only way you will know for sure is to have a dating scan.
