Trapped wind and indigestion

I am 12+3 today and am suffering terrible indigestion and trapped wind. I was up all night with pain in my upper abdomen. I was sick this morning which gave me some relief for a while but now the pain is getting worse again. Has anyone got any suggestions of things I can do/take that are safe in pregnancy?

I'm 22+2 and suffering like mad like yourself. I've noticed gaviscon is the best but it only lasts 10 minutes with me and that's it im back to square one again. I was A&E on saturday with the pain as i thought it was something else. If you get any tips I think I'd pinch some of them. I have just under half way to go and want it to end already.

Oh no tiny, that sounds bad. I have a long way to go yet, really hope someone can give us some miracle cures!

I find sitting with my knees up and leaning forward is the best position for easing trapped wind. This works particularly well after some fizzy coke (the bottle must be newly opened) or a rennie.

That's the only tip I've got unfortunately so I'm hoping to pick up some more myself!

tiny you poor thing, it can be quite scary can't it? I thought I was having a mild heart attack the first time I had it. It felt like my rib cage was being prised open from the inside. I had experienced what I thought was trapped wind (obviously it wasn't!) many time previous to this so it honestly never crossed my mind as a possibility but sure enough the pain vanished immediately after a humungus burp.

If it's any help I find a very fizzy drink to make you burp helps and for wind I sometimes sit on my knees, head on the floor, bum in the air until...the inevitable. Not at all glamorous but by goodness the relief!

Good luck!

I think it's the indigestion and heart burn what's getting me the most. plus it doesn't help that I suffer with ibs really bad either.

there's should be a miracle cure out there for us to ease it at least haha

Boots own brand indigestion relief are safe to take and work for me. Cheap as anything too, I've been taking these most days!

One thing that i've found works for me is going out on a really brisk walk (alone). The fast walking seems to 'encourage' the gas into coming out and it comes out relatively quickly. I've done it three times now where the pain has got quite bad and it's worked a treat.

The bum in air technique worked a treat! And I've been slurping peppermint tea all day. Feeling a lot better today, thanks everyone!

Yay! We may look daft doing it but who cares if it works! Glad you are feeling better. x

Bum in air is total winner for wind. Slow steady figures of 8 with the hips. Good practice for birth positions too.

Just don't have anyone else within a fifty foot radius.

I'm joining in with those suffering from heartburn and Indigestion! Was fine in the early days, even though I felt sick, I wasn't but this is now making me throw up! If I can just burp I'm fine! Felt rubbish all day. Threw up, this morning, in the car on the way back from tescos (OH was driving and I had a dog mess bag in my pocket which served as emergency sick bag, thank god)! I will try the peppermint tea I have in the cupboard in a tick! Thanks for letting me moan, feeling a bit sorry for myself today! My sympathies to anyone else suffering! Xx Brew ( have a mint teaWink)

I don't know if it was my IBS and i had a bad case or that I've started to omeprazole but my god do i feel better. As i said earlier I was in A&E with horrible pains and was still feeling rubbish on wednesday, I had an early night (as I've only been having 4 hours sleep if that due to how bad the pain has been) woke up thursday and it had died down, wouldn't say gone and had a good nights sleep. I then done the same last night and this morning I can actually eat without the pain but my body is flushing something out of me which is making me feel it was my IBS or a bug.

Hope you are feeling a lot better than before.
