Pregnancy

Is this normal?

Hello Everyone,
I am pregnant and think I am about 9 weeks along. Not great at dates! I was 10 1/2 stone when we found out and actually lost 4 pounds in the following two weeks (lack of beer I imagine). Since then I have maintained at 10 stone 3. So far so good. I look pregnant though, I mean that my weight is the same but my belly is protruding alarmingly and have had to go into bigger trousers! I am not a thin person and thought I would be able to conceal it a lot longer than this as I carry extra weight on my tummy in general. People are starting to notice though. I have read about twin symptoms but apart from the football tummy, I have no other indicators, no sickness etc. Is this normal?

Totally normal.

At this stage it is just bloating rather than actual baby bump, as your womb is still tucked away behind/below your pelvis at this stage.

It usually settles down after a bit and then you'll get the real bump developing.

I'm about the same stage as you.

I was still wearing my normal trousers over the weekend and thinking the waistband was tight. Last time I went into maternity clothes at about 18 weeks but I know it's going to be earlier this time and my eating habits haven't changed.

I do have sickness and other symptoms but agree with anyone who says every pregnancy is different.

Gillian and Mrsnec thanks for the comments and reassurance. Was worried that I was carrying some sort of person/Jabba the Hut type hybrid :-). Will pull up my big girl pants (literally) and get on with it.

And I'm not saying style goes completely out of the window but I definitely think comfort is more important than when I'm not pregnant. I lived in harem pants and maxi dresses last time and I'm very pleased I didn't get rid of them. I'm about half a stone heavier than you and haven't lost any weight but it wouldn't worry me if my weight went either way at this stage. I've already had my first appointment and they didn't say anything about it.

I doubt Gracia would be knocking at my door pregnant or not Mrsnec :-) Built more for comfort than speed but I am 37 and would like to have my scan done before I let people know. Precious of me but I would like to share the news myself and not have it guessed.
I lost the four pounds at the very start, it was pretty much down to not drinking beer and not eating bold foods when hungover. Diet is good now, with occasional treats and have maintained the weight steadily. Completely agree that losing weight now would not be good!

I'm the same age as you too op and don't think they'd be knocking on my door either. I had an early scan this time because of my history. I still want to hide it as long as I possibly can so I understand you on that one.Congrats anyway.
