Can't stomach anything...

Hi!

6 weeks pregnant, and REALLY struggling to eat, I can manage a few carbs etc.. but really struggling with the fruit and veggies etc.. I used to love them all.. but it's the taste and weirdly the texture that's making me nauseous.. I've got some pregnacare max, because obviously I don't want little sprout to go without!! Can anyone recommend anything to help!? Or any reviews of pregnacare!?

Thanks xx

Poor you, I really started feeling crap at 6w too. I was mostly nibbling carbs. Crisps, toast, pasta etc. I was not eating fruit and veg, mainly because of the texture! Have you tried smoothies or juices? That was the only way I could get them in me. The midwives say its OK during the first trimester if you're not eating that well. The baby gets what it needs from your stores. The main thing is to eat little and often to try and stave off the nausea and to make sure you don't get dehydrated. I'm in the 2nd trimester now and it does get easier x

That's it, I'm just eating cars. . I just had some DRY pancakes.. no toppings, just pancakes.. just fancied something warm, and not out of a packet!! Haha! I'm drinking a lot. . So that's good. Do you have any advice on the pregnacare? Oh I'm so glad it gets easier!! Congrats on your pregnancy also!! X

OP, I could only stomach dry carbs for weeks. Mw said it's fine. Just start back on the fruit and veg when you can. I'm now 14w and can stomach some fruit and veg again.

I tried pregnacare for about two days but they are so big they just made me gag, so I went back onto the little folic acid tablets.

Just keep eating what you can and what you can keep down, and keep your fluids up. You'll be ok.

Pregnacare made me gag too! Far too large. I take folic acid plus vit D separate. Teeny tiny white pills :-)

I was the opposite, I could only stomach fresh foods - fruit, plain chicken or fish with plain veg, oh and yoghurt! Couldn't touch any carbs at all! I was fine with pregnacare but did snap them in half on the more heavy days so they were easier to take....

It gets better!!!

I was exactly the same as you! I started out with such good intentions but realised really quickly that actually eating what I fancied and could stomach was much better then forcing in things. I also got to the point that I was scared to eat due to the all day puking.

I am now 25 weeks and still struggling with lack of appetite. Really worried me until my lovely GP told me that babies are basically parasites and will use all the stores of good stuff you have to thrive.....

Keep doing what you are, take the vitamins and drink plenty of fluid and try not to worry too much.....the thing I've realised is that no pregnancy is the same so all advice is just that - your body will deal with it all!!

Good luck :-)
