Sex in pregnancy

This is going to perhaps sound silly (& probably tmi) and I've never worried about it with my previous two pregnancies but I am almost 14 weeks and basically I can sort of sometimes feel my womb (I think) stretching or something. Today when I was DTD with DH I felt that same kind of pressure there and I'm a bit worried I might have hurt the baby in some way, like when they say don't shake babies... I am really just looking for reassurance that it's hopefully like being in space in there for the baby floating about and no matter what I do it will be safe. Please.

You can't hurt the baby having sex. Shaking a baby is completely different to normal movement while pregnant, and especially at 14 weeks when it's still so small. It's completely insulated and protected inside the fluid, otherwise we'd all be in trouble because having sex, doing exercise, even running up a stairs would be damaging human babies for years.

foggy thank you for talking sense. I really do appreciate the time you took to reply and you are completely right about the stairs thing.

Your cervix is sealed shut so nothing can get in there and hurt the baby. Maybe adapt your positions when you dtd so your DH doesn't go quite so deep, or just be more gentle if it helps reassure you. As foggy said, the fluid makes a great cushion so you can't shake the baby about in there. Don't worry, and enjoy yourself while you can :)

3 miscarriages before this one :-(

Potentially I might need a stitch due to previous problems (unrelated to mc's) so if that's the case it's nada sex for entire pregnancy Confused

Defo make most of it!!!

Sex ban here too! Hoping to have it lifted after the 20 week scan, in which case I'm really going to go for it!

I think it's only usually risky if there's a problem with the placenta or the cervix (I'm at risk of both) - if all is good then there's no reason not to.
