When was it decided and booked? I know its earlybdays yet, currently 33 + 4 and baby been in the same positiin since at least 28 weeks. Just wondering, if it doesnt turn, at what stage is a c section advised and when would i have it?

Wont be having ecv.

I was hoping for a vbac and had a meeting planned about that at 37+5 or similar.

Went into labour at 37+3 which became an "emergency" c-section.

Perfect outcome really as I didn't need to make decisions smile

Should have also said that most trusts seem to go for 39weeks for a elcs.

I went into labour at 36 weeks, and that's when they found he was breech. Tried to labour naturally but ended up with emergency c-section. He's now 4 and sat next to me on the sofa. My dsis had planned c-sections and I think they were at 38/39 weeks. Good luck. Xx

Thanks. I started of not even thinking about C section. Then it dawned on me that it might happen for one reason or another. Now I am convinced i Will be having one and want to be prepared!

Mum had my brother breech. S

With DC1 I

Oops.....after several attempts at turning him, he turned back each time. Turns out he had the cord round his neck, brain was starved of oxygen and he suffered some brain damage. Kind of puts me off attempting vaginal birth.

Two breech babies and two sections. First one at 37 weeks due to failed ecv (too early really) and second one was scheduled for 39 weeks, but I went into labour day before. Both were good experiences, second one was great!

Apologies- baby pressed screen!

With DC1 I had a scan to confirm breech and given a c section date for 39 weeks, went into labour at 38 weeks so had emergency section.
With DC 2 they encouraged a vbac but other complications meant I was told my section date at 16 weeks for 39 weeks, however told if baby not breech and before 39 weeks I would try for a vbac. I knew baby would be breech as DC1 was so wedged the wrong way and I was correct, he was properly wedged with head in my ribs too, he also decided to come early so another emergency section.

Nottalotta Wed 17-Jun-15 08:32:17

Yes I feel that mine is wedged too, head is under my ribcage on the right. Can feel movement i'm assuming kicks, down by my left hip!

If you have a date for elcs and start labour, i guess you just go in and they do c section early?

I was the same as you and my baby was breech from 28 weeks and never turned. I ended up on consultant care for another issue later in pregnancy so ended up being scanned more frequently so they kept an eye on the position.
I think I was sent to talk to someone about Ecv about 37 weeks and we booked my elcs for 39 weeks at that appointment as I refused Ecv.
I did have a midwife convinced he had turned on two occasions (I knew he hadn't-as you say baby's head is uncomfortable in your ribs!) - I do wonder whether, If I hadn't been under consultant care, I might have ended up going into labour and ending up with an emcs.

Similarly, I've been scanned at 28 and 32 weeks and baby was in the same breech position both times. Have the mw this week (34) then consultant at 36 weeks to check if it's turned. If not I get to discuss ECV which will be a very short discussion (no) and then booked in for an ELCS at 39 weeks. I will ask for a scan before the surgery and if it's a late turn will try for natural. But I'm due to be induced at 40 weeks anyway so maybe best to take the surgery.

Aciderwouldbenice Wed 17-Jun-15 14:10:02

Yes both times I just rang the hospital to say waters had gone and they said come down. First time I sauntered in all happy. Second time I crawled in weeping with pain from constant contractions!

The head in the ribs is so painful, DC1 had a little dent in his ear and head from it!
