Headaches and blurry/floaty vision in one eye?

heatherxo · 27/05/2015 20:16

I swear I am freaking about everything, probably my 3rd post in a week!
But anyway, for the last three days I've had god-awful headaches/migraines and all day today I keep getting blurry vision in my right eye, its like there is something ob my eyeball which eventually goes away and comes back every hour or so..
Anyone else experience this? Should I call mw?

Call midwife. They'll need to check your bp urgently, could be pre-eclampsia.
If midwife not available as out of hours I'd call the local epu or delivery suite and ask for advice. Don't ignore it!

As above don't ignore it. Severe headaches are to be taken seriously in pregnancy - can be an indication of pre eclampsia

I've been having headaches on and off for the last few weeks and the mw always says its fine?
I just don't want to phone and then they laugh or whatever because I'm freaking over nothing aha..

pre eclampsia is not fine. i would call delivery suite and ask for advice

Pre eclampsia is something that needs treating right away so it's worth asking to be seen, if it turns out to be nothing then better safe than sorry.

Thanks ladies, will give triage a call

Definitely get checked out. No one is going to laugh at you for reporting severe headache and visual disturbances!

Make sure you make it clear that there's nothing actually IN your eye as well.

I thought at first there was something in my eye but definitely not, will def give a call for advice at least

You've now got visual changes as well which ups the ante so to speak.
Hopefully something and nothing but you need to see a doc tonight and let them tell you that.

Just off the phone to triage, lady said I've to go to docs tomorrow and ask for urine to be checked for protein and for bp check too but that's all she said

is that general triage? i would still call maternity unit

I'm surprised they don't want to see you tonight. I had odd vision when I was pregnant and they saw me immediately, did blood tests etc. I didn't even have a headache and they were still really thorough. Have you got a bp machine at home? If not (or if you get a high reading) I would be pushing to be seen.

Call maternity, say you would like to be tested tonight. I had pre eclampsia and it became an emergency v v quickly, it isn't a "wait-and-see" sort of issue. It's a pain in the arse given it's 9:30pm now and hopefully nothing but needs checking

She just said to take paracetamol and phone docs in the morning

Call the maternity unit, as I'd imagine you need to be seen tonight incase it's pre eclampsia, like others have said.

A few days ago I called GP as I was experiencing a couple of symptoms of pre-eclampsia, they gave me an appointment straight away, tested my urine and gave me a short examination. Even though there was no protein in the urine the GP called Maternity Triage who asked me to go there straight away (about 6pm) and they monitored the baby for a couple of hours, took blood and urine tests and tested blood pressure a few times. I also got another examination from the doctor there. I think you should be getting the same care, it really isn't a wait an see kind of condition. Hope everything is ok.

So went to the docs this morning and everything seems fine. Bp "perfect" and urine fine.. No explanation as to what's causing headaches and vision problems..
Doctors are a bloody joke sometimes

I got frequent migraines with visual disturbance from about 30 weeks. It was definitely pregnancy related because they stopped as soon as ds2 was born, however not bp/eclampsia related thankfully.

However, I did get monitored every time (wee checked for protein, movement monitored for half an hour or so, bp monitored). Much better safe than sorry although a pain to keep traipsing up to the hospital, especially when I couldn't drive because of vision.

Glad you're ok! Was hoping it wasn't anything too serious. Pregnancy can do so many weird things.

I've always suffered headaches and migraines even before pregnancy but never as bad as this!
I'm just glad everything is ok, although its a pain only being able to take paracetamol
