Anxious new mum to be

Think I need some reassurance. I am 22 + 5. Baby's movements have been reduced since Thursday. Friday I was checked by midwife and she listened in on the heartbeat and we could hear it. Phew! But it's still reduced and I know I sounds ridiculous that I swear my belly is showing less. It's not hard, or tight like it normally is. I know I sound stupid but my mind is going crazy on me. I can't stop thinking that something is wrong and baby has passed away.

Movements can still be on and off in the early 20 wks with most babies not forming any patterns yet, could have moved into a different position or part of the abdomin where it's not so easy to feel what's going on.

If you are still worried in a day or so maybe give the midwife a call or the assesment unit they usually have one within the labour ward and they can check things out.

quite possible that baby has just changed position, that would affect the size and shape of belly as well. If you're worried, just give the MW a call again though.

They're still so tiny at that stage, can tuck themselves in a corner, can also turn with their back facing your stomach so kicks are going inwards. If you are worried though it's always worth calling your midwife or the out of hours midwife for reassurance.

I had an anterior placenta so I had a lot of the kind of worries you're describing. As PPs said, they move around a lot at that gestation so it keeps feeling different.

If you have an icy cold drink and lie on your side for a while then you should feel something. If after half an hour you haven't felt anything then call your midwife. But they generally wake up and start kicking you once they're next to something really cold!
