18 weeks - kicks or wishful thinking?

I'm 18+2 today with my first. On Wednesday, I had ligament pain all day and my belly sort of popped out a bit, so am presuming some kind of growth spurt. I can now feel the odd sort of pressure very occasionally, like a painless pinch from the inside. Is this the baby or is this indigestion and wishful thinking? What did those first kicks feel like for you? I may be a little impatient :)

I had my first kick when I was 18w5d it feels like someone is poking the inside of your belly! It really is unmistakable when you first feel it! Poke your tongue into the inside of your cheek kinda feels like that Smile

I felt my first kicks at around 18 weeks, hard to describe but like a light pat from the inside - like nothing I've ever felt before and not anything like wind (in my experience)

I could feel kicks externally around that time too, both me and DH felt them numerous times.

Those kicks will just get stronger and soon enough you'll be getting thudded by your little one! Grin

I had movement at 17 weeks with both of mine.

I'd say it was kicks you're feeling.

With my first it was week 16 and week 12 with this one, they've felt like little taps.

I am 18 weeks too with my first and have been wondering the same thing. For the last week I have been feeling fluttering / gas bubbles that I hadn't felt before. Seems different to what you lot are all feeling. I was not sure if it was intestine or baby.

I definitely felt general 'movement' this time before kicks. It was a swirly moving and the occasional push rather than a swift kick (which is the first thing I felt with my daughter).

Could well be. I've been feeling movements since about 19 weeks.

Everyone said it would be like butterfly wings fluttering, or like popcorn going off, real gentle little flutters... Nah, not for me, felt like full body slams haha. Seems to have got a little gentler now (I'm 23 weeks).

To me it kind of felt like wind that doesn't go anywhere...you know like how if trapped wind kind of "bubbles" you can feel it move off elsewhere? A bit like that but it didn't go anywhere.

Thanks all. I haven't felt anything much today except for occasionally sick and rather tired. Is this normal?

Also - I don't know whether my placenta is anterior or posterior, which I'm told can affect when and how you feel baby. When were you told about yours? I have my 20 week scan next week, can I ask then?

I felt movement at 17 weeks with my first. They were like little butterfly flutters low down that gradually got stronger and stronger. You could definitely be feeling them at 18 weeks. Currently 15 weeks with DC2 and felt first movements today, the same fluttery feeling Smile

Yes they will tell you if you have an anterior placenta at your 20 week scan.
