Anyone gently exercising at the gym 30w+ pg?

I'm not really fit or athletic but went to the gym a few times a week and decent dog walks every day. I've continued going intermittently to the gym, just due to other commitments rather than any pg issues and hadn't been for a few weeks.
I started again this week, as the weather is so rubbish I can't get out walking and I feel cooped up on the dark nights. Nothing strenuous, just low level cross trainer, stationary bike, some light arm weights.

Would there be any issues with this seeing as I'm not super fit to start with?

I didn't feel out of breath or even really broke much of a sweat.

No issue at all..I am 30 weeks and go to the gym a lot but even with a small break from routine you will be fine. Measure your exertion by checking how out of breath you are..can you still hold a conversation while doing the exercise? That is a v safe level to be at.
You should absolutely keep on going, the fitter you are the better the recovery after birth I think (certainly was with my first two)

Thanks, I never thought anything of it til after I was there and advice online is continue what you're doing, but I was never really consistent with the gym in the months leading up to conception etc. I definitely wasn't out of breath or anything, it was more cardio to loosen me up.

As long are you're careful you'll be fine. Just do what you're used to. Low weights, nothing twisty, smooth reps and listen to your body. The only thing I was told not to do was cross trainer because it stomach muscles, cycling, gentle weights and a gentle 2 min run suited me best.

I kept up a maintenance programme during both pregnancies until 36 weeks (DS EMCS the following week) and 37 weeks (DD ELCS in week 39). Very glad I did too.

by "don't start anything new" people mean intensive exercise programs. It's fine to for example go swimming, do pregnancy yoga, walking, low intensity exercises etc even if you only sat on the sofa pre-pregnancy.

Hazle that's what I wasn't sure of, thanks!
No excuses not to go now!

I went to the gym till 36 weeks with dd. It was fine but some of the men stared towards the end. (Only quit because of my monthly membership running out.) I did stop classes like body pump/spinning/combat as I didn't think I could trust myself to overdo it.

This time I have a bike and weights at home and intend to use them all the way through (am only 23 weeks so far).

I was still teaching body pump 9 months pregnant. Grin There were some looks, indeed.

I'm also 38 weeks and still working out pretty much every day: elliptical, weights and the occasional class. Plus I walk 3-5miles a day doing school/nursery drop-off and pick-up (distance depends on whether my toddler is in nursery or not that day).

I love it: I feel great. I was extremely fit before getting pg though (boot-camp style classes), so this is actually reduced exercise for me.

You do get looks though, but I know it's safe, so I'm not worried.

Push yourself as far as you feel comfortable. You shouldn't be exhausted afterwards, and you should be able to hold a conversation throughout. Take care with stretching and weights (the extra relaxin in your system increases your risk of hurting yourself) and don't hold your breath (for example, when lifting a weight). But go for it. As others have said, the advice refers to intensive exercise and 'dangerous' sports (contact sports, like football, sports with a risk of falling, like riding, and crazy sports, like deep-sea diving).

Be sure to drink enough fluids and eat enough too, both before and after.
