Last time I was measured 30 cm at 31weeks. Today I'm 34 weeks and still only 30cm. Same midwife. Being sent for growth scan but I have to wait 2 weeks for it ( midwife was requesting it asap). Don't feel tooo anxious but bit disappointed I havnt grown particularly as I feel huge! Could afford private growth scan sooner, but would they look at all the things hospital would? Should I just be patient and wait 2 weeks? I'll be 36 weeks then and planning a homebirth if all going smoothly..

I measured 36 at 36 weeks but then at 38 week appointment I was measured at 34 so had apparently decreased! I was referred for growth scan which took about 10 days to process. I wasn't too concerned as baby was still moving around a lot but it does niggle you. All was fine at my scan, they put it down to human error with the tape measuring.
I did take my bags and leave them in the car just in case I was admitted for any reason! We left with a picture of our baby's little face and he was born healthy a week later

Oh, and the sonographer said it was very common!

I think it would depend on if you're going to worry or not. I am a worrier so would want it done as soon as possible even if that meant I had to pay for it. However if you are not concerned and happy to wait then wait until your NHS appointment.

Hi there OP. I am 35 weeks and measuring 31cm. I have been having growth scans every 2 weeks since 28 weeks which show baby on the small side (just under the bottom line on growth chart) but shes still growing so they are not too concerned. Were you normal BMI before you got pregnant? I was 9st & am 5'6 and have put 1 1/2 stone on. I know its quite stressful but try not to worry. As long as you are feeling baby move regularly that's the main thing :)

Good luck!

Try not to worry too much. The 'person with tape measure' approach to bump measurement is very unreliable, despite the midwife's best efforts. You could have been bloated one day or the baby could have changed position, or just she was holding the tape slightly differently. Its good to be checked out but absolutely no need to panic. Good luck!

Thanks all. Yeah I think your right Carks, it's more of a 'niggle' than seriously concerning. I'm aware of how basic/ inaccurate their measuring is, yet still want to be told it's all good! Bmi was normal, I think , put on weight steadily, and getting lots of movements so will wait for scan for now. :)

Yeah, any concerns with change in movements or fluid leakage make sure you get on the phone to midwife unit. But the chances are that it was human error or maybe the way baby was lying changing bump shape slightly. Good luck!

Privately you can book a growth scan or a presentation scan which will be much the same as the hospital scan as they are performed by fully trained doctors. One will check specifically for growth whole the other checks how baby is positioned ... If they are back to back with you that can alter the fungal height as baby is tucked away. Do you have an anterior placeta do you know? This too can affect how baby lays! It sounds as though baby is just fine though ... you feel like you are bigger/heavier so suggests baby is on target and if movement is as should be then you can relax :)
question is can you afford to book a private ... and how much stress will you put in yourself in 2 weeks? It's a busy time of year so lots of distraction to keep you occupied but if you feel in a few days it's going to start sending you nuts I recommend the growth scan :) some clinics have Christmas specials right now so you may even get a peek in 4d :)

I hadn't grown at all between weeks 29 and 32 so was sent for a growth scan. He measured on the 95th centile at that scan and was 11 lbs 9 oz at birth. Don't know how he'd managed to tuck himself away but he did!

Try not to worry, easier said than done I know. Worrying is not good for you.
My bump stopped growing at 32 weeks, I had a growth scan a week later and the consultant put it down to 'one of those things'. Baby never grew anymore after that and although born perfectly healthy, he only weighed 4lbs.
I've been put straight onto consultant care for this pregnancy and already have 3 extra scans booked.
FYI baby is now a lovely 2.5 year old and right on target with his growth and development. The hv was very impressed with him at his 2 year check :).

I'm sure you and baby will be absolutely fine.
