Braxton hicks question

Sorry in advance if this is a really dumb question. This is my first pregnancy, I'm 24 weeks and the last couple of days I've had a couple of really crampy moments. Each time maybe lasting 2-3 minutes, it feels exactly like period pain so quite painful, definitely noticeable. My bump also went really hard low down.

My question is, does this sound like BH in your experience because everything I google says they're painless and while they're not excruciating, I definitely know more about the pain than the tightening!!

Any advice would be fab. Thanks all.

Hi. It doesn't sound like my experience of braxton hicks as I have never had any pain with them. I think some people do get some pain though with them but I am not sure. I would mention it to your midwife. Sorry I can't be more help.

Hi, I get BH all the time (another joy of pregnancy!), sometimes they are painful, sometimes they are like an ache and sometimes I don't notice them...
I spoke to my midwife about them and she told me that the text books and internet were a load of rubbish in this case and some BH are painful! (she's also sure it was written by my man to say BH isn't painful). but if you are worried I would speak to your midwife just for an actual medical opinion (as tat's what they are there for!)

Thanks Goose. An ache is exactly right, I'm fairly sure that must be what they are but was so thrown when I kept reading that you couldn't feel them at all!! I'll def mention it when I next see the midwife. Ha - I like the idea that a man decided they weren't painful grr!
