Peed on a stick and pregnant! Now stressing

Hey all, need to tell someone other than DP or I'll explode.

Have been trying since around February, and for the last few days felt weirdly light headed and dizzy, also pretty grumpy and tearful. Today would have been the first day of my period, and when it wasn't there when I woke up I did a test and there it was - pregnant! Yay!

My cycle started on 1st November, so does that mean that's the date the pregnancy starts from?! I think it would be due in August...

Now though, as a terribly anxious person all I can think about is maybe it was false positive, maybe it's a chemical pregnancy, what if it doesn't work out.

Anyone got some advice for a worrier or some grips they can hit me over the head with?!

Oh and a link to all the abbreviation guide would be handy!

Congratulations!!! Smile Count 40 weeks from the first day of your last period and that will give you your due date.

Congratulations!

its totally normal to freak out at this stage :)

try and relax and take it one day at a time til you get a bit further along. Yes the pregnancy starts from the beginning of the cycle in which you conceived ie 2 weeks roughly before conception. The first scan at about 12 weeks will date it more accurately.

You'll see the term LMP banded about. That's short for Last Menstrual Period and they use that for dating purposes initially, although once they scan they use the scan measurements over the LMP as lots of people give bad info or ovulate later than they though etc.

If you go to the ante-natal groups part of the board you will find the August group and will be able to speak to other group members who have just got their BFP.

Congratulations xx

Google NHS due date calculator and it'll ask for the first day of your last period then tell you an estimated due date. This will match what your GP will tell you, but once you've had a scan it'll move by up to a week or so.
