Leaking??? TMI!!!!

TheHermitCrab · 11/11/2014 13:05

since about 16w I've been wearing panty liners due to lots of discharge, and peeing when I sneeze! lol

I'm now 30w

I've just gone to the loo (I'm at work) And I am literally wet through my liner, my knickers, AND my tights are wet!!

I haven't peed myself, it doesn't smell.. and I didn't feel it happening...

Now I've gotta sit here all day...

WTF happened???

I'd say you're leaking amniotic fluid, if it is to the extent you say it is and it definitely isn't wee. Give your MW a call and see what she says, I wouldn't ignore that amount of leakage tbh.

Not to alarm you but maybe call your midwife/doc just to make sure it isn't early waters breaking?

Really? EEK! I'm sat at work I don't even have any numbers... I'm such a disorganised fool.

I don't get home til about 7pm... this may sound strange... but can it wait??

I mean I don't feel anything. I don't know anything about this kind of think, literally only ever had bloods and bp done at midwife and no discussion!

Can you google the number to your local hospitals antenatal dept, or your GP and ask for the number for the midwives?

I guess I can do... I feel a bit embarassed as to explaining why I would need to get out of work... especially when I feel completely fine :/

No, it can't wait. If you're leaking it means your waters have broken and you and your baby are at risk if you don't get it checked out right away. You will need steroids for you babies lungs to mature them for early delivery so that they are able to breathe slightly better - even if it's not your waters, it's better to be safe than sorry.

You'll keep leaking if it's waters, if it were me, I'd go and get checked just so I'm not sat in a puddle in an hour or so...

Christ on a bike. I thought I'd feel a bit of movement, or pain, or something... not just wet knickers.

Going to go back up to the loo and investigate. I just stuck tissues down there..

I know I know TMI!!

Oh don't worry about TMI!

I would definitely ring them now and go and get yourself checked out.

Just tell your you have spoken to them and they have suggested going in and getting checked out. That way you don't need to give to much info. Not that you should be embarrassed.

Just because your waters have broken doesn't mean you'll start contracting, but it does mean a risk of infection and preterm premature rupture of the membranes ( www.patient.co.uk/doctor/preterm-premature-rupture-of-membranes) is a very serious thing - please don't just wait it out because you feel fine.

Just been back to the loo, nothing there and tissues completely dry... could I have had an incontinent moment?! hmmmm....

It could have been but it's still worth checking out - I know it's a bit of an inconvenience but you'll kick yourself if you do nothing and the unthinkable happens.

WowserBowser · 11/11/2014 13:34

I did - I rang them and it turned out fine.

I also rang as my waters were bulging. I nearly shit myself (not literally)
Turned out it was piles!

But please ring! It is what they are there for.

You'd have probably felt wee coming out... And be able to smell it especially as it dried. Amniotic fluid is pretty odourless but can smell a bit sweet. Honestly, get checked out. No one is going to think you're being daft or dramatic, you're wet through to tights and don't know how.

Even if it has stopped then I'd still get checked.

Just text my OH and asked him to send me the number on the antenatal book.

Now how to get out of an open plan office full of windows in the pissing down rain to make a phone call :/

they've booked me in at 6pm to check my waters, I'm guessing that involves my intimate areas being poked??

They'll stick a trace on to check baby's heartbeat, movements and any contractions you may be having but not feeling and yes, they'll have to do an internal but not an invasive one. They'll do a swab to check if any fluid is present, check if your cervix had opened/thinned/changed and also want you to cough after lying down for half an hour or so to see if they can see any liquid movement.

Thank you for the info.

Hopefully I just have an infection - well I don't mean hopefully but you know what I mean!?

I've had a lot of discharge and mucus and whatnot since pretty early on, urine has always been fine..etc. But this was very yellow on the pad and thick, but then it was wet through my nickers and tights, I can't believe I sat here that damp/wet and didn't notice!

Little un is still jiggling about as normal. Will just have to see what the midwives say... :/

I hope everything is okay for you. I'm on my second pregnancy and what I'm leaking is definitely wee! I don't feel it but its been checked and definitely not amniotic fluid. Just telling you so you know you can definitely leak wee and not realise you're doing it depending on where the baby is putting pressure.

Thanks Weeblueberry

Baby is low and transverse, so I'm always dying for a piddle.

Will be the first time I'll be happy I've peed myself that's for sure! :) lol
