Hi,

My head is spinning a bit here...so 4.5 wks ago I had an ERPC following a missed miscarriage at 6 wks. Following the ERPC I bled lightly for maybe 10-12 days. Since then I've half heartedly done Ov tests (maybe every other day) all of which have been negative up until this Tuesday when it showed positive. I've then had a positive Ov test since. Today I went to get a pregnancy test because a) I'm confused and b) I'm going to a wedding at the weekend and wanted to be sure safe to drink!!

Anyway a line has come up so it's positive but I just can't believe it! I feel 100% fine and just can't work out how if I didn't get a positive Ov test? DH and I have been DTD as they say but is this possible or could it be wrong??

Also I should add I did two tests following the end of my post ERPC bleed and both showed negative meaning HCG had cleared from my system.

I don't want to get excited as I just feel like this can't be true / it will end in tears.

Anyone got any advice at all??

As long as you had a neg test after ur mc, I would say its a positive. congratulations :)

I was still getting a positive test result 6 weeks after ERPC, due to some tissue being left (I was unaware of this until the +ive test).

However of you have had a negative test then it sounds like congratulations are in order Smile

That's what I am worried about Pastperfect...but have now done 3 tests (crazy woman) and all have a line albeit quite faint compared to control line. I guess I'll just have to wait and see...

I'd go to the doctors and ask for blood tests. It is very close to your mm and if you are not pregnant then you're at risk of infection. The doc can do two blood tests 48hrs apart which will give you a definitive answer.

Good luck

Have you had a negative pregnancy test since the ERPC? Hopefully it's a new pregnancy but the hormones can hang around quite a while after a miscarriage.

Hi! I had an MMC in February this year, and an ERPC. I got a negative HPT about 2 weeks after so was just waiting for my period to show up at some point. It got to about 6 weeks after the ERPC, and no AF. So out of curiosity, I did a test and it was positive. I was really shocked as DH and I had only DTD the twice in that time, about a week apart (really not in the mood considering everything that had happened!) so I couldn't believe it either. I'm now almost 21 weeks pregnant.

It can happen that quickly after an MC or MMC, I'd heard these rumours that you can be super fertile afterwards, and low and behold I was one of those people!

I will say that the first few weeks were incredibly nerve racking. I sort of got into a habit of not believing it was true. I also had a lot of bleeds during the first 9 weeks but was referred for an early scan and all was well. I had my 20 week scan this week, and I'm now totally relaxing into this pregnancy.

It sounds like you are pregnant, so see your GP and get the ball rolling when you feel ready. Congratulations!

I had three negatives after mc followed by strong ov positives for 4 days in a row (i even spotted a reason for this when reading an article but stumped if my pregnant brain can recall more).
I then got positives (about seven Blush )Dr was cautious but I've had two scans and there is indeed a hitchhiker in there.
EPU were fairly happy that positives following clear negatives was a good sign. Dr more cautious. Congrats Thanks

Ignore the OV tests you took.
Did you take a home pregnancy test prior to this one, which showed negative prior to the one which showed positive? A home pregnancy test not an OV test.

If so, then it is likely you are pregnant.

If not, there is a small risk you have retained materials after your loss and will need to be scanned/checked (risk of infection) or a smaller (less than 1%) chance of a molar pregnancy. As molars have themselves a very small cancer risk, you must get them ruled out.
If you have not had a negative pregnancy tests after your MC, please see your GP ASAP: it may well be good news but could also be a complication from your loss. They should arrange a scan and 48 hr blood tests which will be able to verify whether it is a new pregnancy.

All HCP treating miscarriages are meant to advise us to check after 2 weeks, but so many forget (or don't like to because it's upsetting) not realising it means uncertainty in future!

Yes I took a home pregnancy test after my bleeding ended post ERPC, came back negative but I have to say I only let it sit for a few mins then there away. When I did my inital pregnancy tests on Thursday last week they were faint and cheapo tests so I was a bit unconvinced. I've since done a first response one which came up positive immediately so I'm now sure this is a new pregnancy.

I'll make an appointment this week, starting to get quite scared of miscarryinv again but I am trying not to give it all too much thought for a few weeks and just see what happens. Easier said than done!!

Congratulations! Sounds like it's a new pregnancy if you got a negative before. :)
