Would I know if I'd lost the baby?

Am 11+6 wks pg with dc2 and convinced myself the baby is dead :(
No reason to think this other than paranoia.
My scan is on Tuesday so will know soon enough, but if the baby has died/stopped developping, would I necessarily know about it? Or would it only be revealed with a scan?

You may or may not know. With my first miscarriage I had no idea until the scan but with the second one I had a feeling that it was going to happen.
Hugs and I hope your baby is fine. When I was pg with DS I would sometimes get anxious (particularly before the scans) that something was wrong. And he's a happy little chap currently watching fireman sam.

I'm 11weeks and did two pregnancy tests this morning just to check everything's ok. Really hard to not worry.

Good luck for your scan Thanks

Don't waste your money on doing pregnancy tests - even after a completed miscarriage it can take weeks for a test to come up negative.

You may not know which is called a missed miscarriage.
I have been utterly convinced with my pregnancy so far that all would not be right, but 4 scans and 14 weeks and baby is developing just fine.

I know it's really rely difficult but try to relax and keep your mind busy until Tuesday - maybe arrange something nice to do in the weekend to look forward to and break the time up a bit

To be completely honest maybe.

I had an mmc and today I had my 12 week scan with my 2nd (maybe 3rd, unsure if I had a chemical a few months before conceiving) and all Is perfectly fine :)

the pregnancies were/ are totally different.

#1 I found out at 8 weeks and started feeling sick and sore boobs and had very few symptoms before that. around 9/ 10 weeks I had a dream that I miscarried and my symptoms faded considerably but I thought it might be normal. Then I had an awful feeling that baby either wouldn't be there or I'd have twins??? I had a scan at 13 weeks and baby had stopped growing at 9 + 4.

#2 tonnes of symptoms even before bfp at 4 weeks. sickness from 4/5 weeks and still there on and off now. I still have sore boobs and back ache and the beginning of a bump. there was some spotting early on but it was ok :) I had a feeling everything was fine but was scared It wouldn't be.

You might be picking up on things but you might just be scared which is normal. I don't think you can know for sure until you get to your scan!

If you get all the way to 12 week scan with no bleeding, the probability of it being a missed miscarriage is less than 2%. It does happen sadly, but by and large, if it isn't a viable pregnancy you would have likely had bleeding by now, so 98% says your baby is just fine. Good luck!

Missed miscarriages are rare, but sadly do happen. And if they happen a pregnancy test will remain positive - because your body hasn't realised that there is a problem and all the hormones, etc are still there. Even after a 'normal' miscarriage, it takes some weeks for tests to turn negative.

But if you have got this far then, as has been said, it is rare. Just try and relax until you hopefully get the reassurance of your scan.

I wasn't aware it could take that long, my midwife said it would take roughly 3 days for the hormone to leave the body. She told me to test for reassurance Sad didn't go out and pay for them though as they were left over from a bulk Internet buy.

That is simply incorrect I'm afraid Clargo. If you have a missed miscarriage then the reason there has been no bleeding, etc is that the body hasn't 'realised' that something has gone wrong. So it is still pumping out the hormones to try and sustain the pregnancy.

Even with my 'normal' miscarriage, it was at least a fortnight before things went negative. And that was only at about 8 weeks.
