I went to hospital a couple of weeks ago with some light bleeding when I was 27 weeks. It turned out to be a cervical ectopy, which is harmless, but they did a scan to check everything, and the doctor carrying out the scan said the baby was measuring in the 5th percentile, which is really tiny, and that I had to go back for a growth scan. DH and I have spent the last two weeks frantic with worry. However, we went for our scan today and the sonographer picked up straight away that the doctor had actually entered the measurement into the wrong chart - she'd put the abdomen circumference into the head measurement chart!! So it turns out that my baby was bang on the 50th percentile at 27 weeks and is still at the 50th percentile at 29 weeks. I can't help feeling really pissed off about this, would you feel the same and make a complaint? The hospital also tried to book me into the antenatal clinic for a follow up in two weeks' time, but I declined, as I just could not see the point, if everything has actually been fine all along? My own community midwife, whom I saw last week, said my bump was measuring fine, and that she had no concerns about anything.
