Hi all, did anyone else notice movements around this point to become softer? My movements have always felt quite strong but over last few days seem softer/gentler than normal but there is movement so thats encouraging. I still feel movements against pelvis too.
Is it because he has less room to move now?
The placenta is in front so mw said i wld need to concentrate more on movements but this is the first time they have felt soft
Thanks in advance x

Hi, I didn't notice that. Mine used to move loads especially when I tried to go to sleep. Really big kicks etc. It is possible baby has changed position. As long as you feel movement but if you are worried about anything, including changes in movement, do call you midwife and get seen. Better to check than to worry.

Thanks Horton, his movements have been predictable recently. No noticible movement over night then slight morning movement and a real wriggler in the afternoon lol but i didnt notice much yesterday pm nothing overnight (that i noticed) and he has been moving this morning but its gentle movement with the ocassional sharp movement. He is moving but maybe i will call the antenatal ward a bit later and just have a chat

Yes always err on the side of caution! I'm sure everything is fine, but you can get so easily worried and its not nice starting to panic. A cold glass of water always got my ones jumping about a bit! Good luck! x

The official advice is 10 movements in 2 hours, and any less than that go in to get checked over. There is often talk about knowing your baby's pattern, but to be honest I'm onto no. 3 and I have no clue what the pattern is...there doesn't appear to be one despite doing frequent kick counts.

The reality is they have quiet days and active days. Sometimes forceful kicking, sometimes flutters or soft rolling motions.

BUT if you're worried AT ALL go in to get checked.

The movements should never change. Call the ward and go and get checked out please.

Ring up just to be sure. I went yesterday for change in movements - all was fine, but they said to go every time I felt the movements had reduced or changed.

'ItsSpring there is no 'official' number of movements I don't think. The NHS advice, which has been echoed by my midwives both pregnancies is 'There is no specific number of movements that is considered to be normal. What is important is noticing and telling your midwife about any reduction or change in your baby's normal movements'

I have just called them and the mw said that as long as i was still feeling movements it was ok. She said be vigilent today with monitoring movements and if concerned later to call them again but she said that it was normal to not feel the big kicks as much now im "full term".
