Awful pain across bump just now

I'm 36.3 with DC2.

I experienced BH with DD1 as tightenings across my whole bump which would last 30 seconds ish and were not painful at all.

I've just had a very bad pain go across my bump, mostly the lower half which lasted about 1.5 minutes. I had the breath through it and walk around until it eased off. It wasn't an ache is was proper pain, it started gradually, peaked then faded.

The best way to describe it was like if you have ever experienced really bad trapped wind, but instead of it being 'internal' it was in front of the baby..... If that makes sense?

Google isn't helping.....anyone have experience of painful BH? I'm wondering if this is what it was.

Sounds like a contraction, did the baby make a big movement just prior to it?
Is your bag packed :)

Contraction. Might just be a braxton hicks but I'd get ready just in case.

My bh were very often painful but my gp for my first two Dcs never made any distinction between labour contractions and bh, he said they were all contractions and once they get regular and close together it's labour.

Gawd no surely not an actual contraction?!

Call me naive but I was expecting labour to start like my last with that back achey-moving round the front-waters going type thing. No my bags aren't packed have homebirth planned!

SummerRain it's just one BH for now if that's what it was. Might take a warm bath........

norem no but the baby moved like crazy for 30 mins after.

Will your mw come out at 36 weeks? Have they dropped off hb supplies yet?

No she said 37 weeks. Anyway she is on holiday until Saturday.

Really hope this is just a false start. My back is aching a bit now really don't want this to be it I am not ready!

Tbh at 36 weeks you're better off in hospital if this is it.

I wouldn't panic too much yet, I had weeks of on and off labour with all mine.

That's how my labour with DS started - one massive pain, then nothing for an hour then regular contractions and waters breaking etc.

Possibly nothing but definitely pack a bag!

Packing bag! Hopefully by doing that its like taking a rain coat out just in case. If you take it it won't rain if you don't you will get soaked.

Now I sound nuts. Lets hope it is just false/stop start labour Smile

That's exactly the kind of thing I'd think - in fact I think I delayed packing my bag when I was 38 weeks as I thought that would help ensure labour would come along quickly!!

Hope this is a false alarm and the little blighter hangs on in there till next week so you can have your home birth!

Phew! Glad all has quietened down and it stays put for a bit! Made me chuckle - you don't sound nuts at all Smile

Maybe the baby was just getting itself into a better position. Had it been breech until now? Could have been turning if so.

No wasn't breach duchese but... It IS kicking me on the other side now so yes possibly it was shoving itself over.

Well I do hope it's comfy now!
