Home birthing pool

Hello!

Have any of you had your babies in a birthing pool at home? The midwife has suggested we start looking at the different types available to hire and seeing what people recommend from experience. This is my first, due in May.

All suggestions / comments welcome :-) X

The homebirth.org website ahs a good introduction.

You basically need to make an initial choice between a rigid, filtered pool and an inflatable.

Inflatable: cheaper, good if no space as you put up and use immediately, need a reliable hot water supply (combi boiler best), no good for those with fast/unpredictable labours

Rigid: water can stay in for a week, so can be set up in advance. More expensive. Takes up lots of space. May not be as comfortable as a thick inflatable floor.
