First of all try not to worry, my dog once jumped from the back of the sofa onto my bump while I was laying down and everything was fine...

Give your midwife a call? They may say come in or they may just tell you to keep an eye on movements or discomfort?

With small children around it's hard to completely prevent this so I wouldn't worry or every second time mum would have a problem... My dd has accidentally caught the bump quite a few times.

I was a bit more worried about this until I had 12 week scan and they pressed so hard with the wand thing it hurt a lot more than dd's bumps!

You should be fine. As you said, baby is well protected in there. Smile

I know my head is telling me that everything is fine and I should stop being so precious...but now I keep thinking the baby isn't moving as much Confused Going to give it an hour or so, drink some cold water and see how baby is. If not then I will call the midwife.

I was going to say the same as mem I had a scan today and they pushed so hard it really was quite painful, it's still a bit tender now, the babies didn't care at all!

Not sure about this.

How far are you? Not wanting to worry you, OP, but I read somewhere else about a woman walking into a glass door with her bump. She was due to give birth a few weeks after (so she was quite far in), but it caused her baby to die - something about the placenta rupturing.

So pls. do get checked up.

Forgot to say I'm 31 weeks. Baby is moving but I don't know if it's a 'normal' amount. Or if I'm over thinking it now ConfusedConfusedConfused

Oh crikey, I understand your worry but I'm sure you and baby will be ok. I was hit in the belly at 7 months pregnant by a thrown object (large ornament, don't even ask what it was doing there Hmm) by a patient I was supporting. It hurt, caused a large triangular bruise and I had to leave my shift to go to the hospital. I was sick with worry, the hospital staff were brilliant and indulged me with a scan but they were insistent that the baby would be well protected within my stomach, beneath the fat and muscle of my belly and swimming in amniotic fluid. I know it can hurt more than usual as your nerves are stretched out and you feel more sensitive there.

Having said that, you must see your midwife if you have any decrease in movement. Don't feel like you're overreacting, ever!

Just to add, if you're Rh negative, call your midwife as you may need Anti D

I am Rh neg Shock I had anti D at 28 weeks...would that cover me?

Obviously if you are worried do speak to a midwife as they re there to help and won't judge you if all is Ok. Sure it is ok but no harm in getting checked out.

I had extra AntiD injections due to bumps and falls. Let the hospital know, they will doubtless monitor you at the same time.

Give your midwife a call to check. Mine are super paranoid (as am I!) and tend to give additional injections for every bleed or fall but it's more of a precaution I think
