It is not easy for an untrained person to use a Doppler that early in pregnancy. I did the same thing as you OP - turns out I was listening to the blood flow in my placenta ????

141 is perfectly normal :)

I am toying with the idea of buying a doppler.

I had a mmc in April, am now 14 weeks and an stupidly worried all the time.

I have a feeling the doppler may actually push me over the edge into insanity though so have held off.

I'm glad I got it now I heard everything the placenta my heartbeat then the babys heartbeat right next to mine. It took a while kept hearing it then it kept dissapearing I know it was the heartbeat cos I was chasing it for along time lol makqueen, I've had a miscarriage back in may, I tried it so many times to find it got it when I was 8 weeks I new there was.I would recommend to I'm a bit on the bigger side too so wait till your 15 16 weeks its amazing when u hear it I quarantee u will be patient though takes a while I have no worrys now :)

Which one have you got?

I dont want to spend a fortune, but I have seen some on amazon for around £30.

I mentioned slightly reduced movements at my 34 week mw appointment, and while she was able to hear LO's heartbeat, she did say that I still ought to go to the hospital is movements didn't increase because hearing a heartbeat is not a good indicator that baby is ok.

It's a nice party trick, but please don't use it for reassurance. You see lots of stories on MN about people not getting checked out because they've heard a heartbeat, and the ending has not been a happy one.

A angel sound doppler its was 39.99 the cheapest I could find, I've got no reason to be checked out having no problems with my pregnancy thank you! I had a mc at 6 weeks before the fact I've made it this far and have had a scan and a low risk for downs I'm feeling positive and hearing a heartbeat is a good things means that my baby is actually alive, no your trying to help but I don't need to get checked out there's no reason too. A lot of people on here want to make u think somethings wrong quite insulted!

AnythingnotEverything, thats true later on, but in these early days you have nothing else to go on, its only for reassurance. Mine really helped me after travelling etc at around 11 weeks when I wouldnt have known any different.

The important thing is that the heartbeat is a moment in time, so is reassuring while you can hear it, but movement trumps heartbeat every time

I might get one in a couple of weeks. I really do think id drive myself bonkers now and get upset if I can't find the heartbeat. I am a bit 'well padded' on the belly!

Wait until your 15 16 weeks so there more chance of finding it or just wait till your midwife appointment and wait till she finds it then get one just so u no ones there, u obv had ur 12 week scan so u would of seen the heartbeat on the screen like me I quess how far gone wwere u when u had ur mmc if u don't mind me asking ? I was 9 weeks. I had a private scan at 7 weeks which showed a slow heartbeat, they told me to come back in two weeks. I did and the baby had died two days before. I miscarried naturally (ugh, it was horrendous) four weeks later.

I have had lots of scans in this pregnancy. 7,8,9, 11 and 12 weeks. All excellent. This baby is (please god) healthy so far and doing well. Very low risk of downs, great heartbeat, great size. I worry everyday though.

I worry I was 6 weeks also miscarried naturally it was horrible time as u would agree, it must of been harder for u actually seeing a heartbeat I had a early scan and saw not even a sac I passed in the epu before they called me in, now at 15 weeks I'm feeling pretty postitive my 12 week scan messed me a bit she had to scan me twice bcos baby was so low my scan pic doesn't show the legs but the nurse said it means nothing I was 12 weeks 1 day the stage were they move up I'm pretty sure I feel movements now too x be positive to have mc more than once is uncommon

I am trying to be positive, but it's still difficult. I have an older ds who is 11 years old and that pregnancy was fine, I didn't worry at all.
