Having bad shooting pains into my lady parts over the last week read online this is called lightening which it certainly feels like! I am 36+4 baby's head is very low down now and I am wondering if this means labour could be imminent.

I have had this for 2 weeks now and no baby yet - so I don't think it means its imminent.

Do you know how far engaged the baby's head is?

I'm 34+2 and sorry to tell you I've been having this since about 28 weeks... no baby yet thankfully, I'd like him to be a little more ready first!
My baby's head is not engaged, I think they are punches for me. Lovely huh :)

Sorry... Convinced mine was engaged but he's only 4/5ths which is basically not at all engaged. I think proper lightening is when your bump is visibly lower and you can breathe much more easily and eat bigger portions. I was also told that when the baby engages has no impact on when labour will start. I'm 37+4 and already desperate for him to come but think I'm in for a bit of a wait still.

Thanks all. My mw didn't say in 5ths but said the head is very low and close to the cervix. My bump has dropped by a good few inches and I've been sat on my ball. I'm ready and waiting for my labour to start I think I'm just getting impatient now! Although when that lightening started in b and q I really thought baby was going to drop right out of me!!! Grin
