Hair dye in pregnancy?

Im 39 weeks now and really want to treat myself so im looking my best for when it happens. Going for a cut but would like a colour too really.. is this safe in pregnancy? (I've avoided it so far!) And is it safe at this stage? Has anyone else been colouring their hair right through or at the end?

I think it depends who you ask! My midwife said I shouldn't do it but my friend asked hers and she said there is no evidence that it hurts the baby...

I'd say wait a bit longer if you have managed to wait this long... Xx

I had held off but at 37 weeks and with extremely tatty hair I did mine including some bleach. I had held off but then asked around and read some bits and pieces and it seems there is no evidence not to. I figured it could potentially be more harmful to do it once baby is here.
On another hair note, I asked my friend who normally cuts my hair if she could do it again. She said she couldn't do it as she was breastfeeding. I can't for the life of me think why this would be - does anyone know?

I had this dilemma too, though I needed to dye right through my pregnancy. I usually DIY at home but when pregnant I went to my nearest Aveda salon as they use natural ingredients in their products. I've no way of knowing if this was correct or not but was what my hairdresser advised.

My midwife and doctor both said its fine. The only reason they say not to is because it may not take the same way (but that is mainly bleach) it doesn't cause any harm to the baby xx

I was told to steer clear in the first trimester but otherwise fine. I've done two home kits since

I waited till 37 weeks and used a semi permanent at home. Just make sure you do a patch test and a hair strand test first in case you have a reaction.
I would have waited till after baby arrives but couldn't stand the grey any more!
