20+5 anterior placenta

I found out I have an anterior placenta at my 20 week scan which I expected as I felt DC1 from 18 weeks and was not getting any more that little twinges this time. I have been getting intermittent kicks on my bladder area and its only then I feel her but I can go days without feeling her. Its starting to get me really down.

I have a home doppler and do find her at night but its through my placenta so not very clear.

How do I get through the next 19 weeks without going to the hospital every day! Is this normal?

Hey, I had an anterior placenta with DD and am pregnant again (35 weeks) and it's only now I realise how little I felt with her so I can imagine it's worse the other way around! I used to not understand how people would talk about seeing a foot or hand sticking out - I had none of that. No advice on how to get through it I'm afraid as I ended up popping up to be checked a few times towards the end with DD but just wanted to say that with an anterior placenta I had very little movement so I think it's pretty normal!

Thanks galwaygirl It took me 4yrs to conceive this precious little girl so I am really quite sad about it and nervous I think the hospital might see me fairly often at the end too.

Hiya, anterior placenta here too. Didn't feel anything I recognised as a kick till 22 wks. Am now 25 wks and the movements are definitely getting stronger. Feel bad for DP as he's anxious to join in the feeling kicks party too but they are still not strong enough yet.

I did put a thread on a while ago and found the responses really reassuring.

Now I'm sure I will find something else to be neurotic about :)

Hi, I have an anterior placenta (my first baby) and whilst I know I don't feel as much as some people, and felt worried until 23 weeks or so, I really do feel plenty of lovely movements (I am almost 35 weeks). My midwife always says to go in if I'm worried of course but I haven't had to yet. Don't feel down - you may feel more than you think and every feeling will be special. Smile

Anterior plancenta here too with dc1. I didn't feel her at all until 22 weeks. If you have 20 mins to spare and to sit still and concentrate on it, fill a glass with ice, top up with your drink and when it's nice and cold drink it down and off the baby goes! Grin
Apparently it's a bit of an old wives tale but it worked for me!

I am glad i'm not alone in feeling sad about it but also glad that hopefully i should feel her a bit more soon. You only have your other pregnancy to compare to if its your second which can be deadly on the nerves!

Hey, sorry to hear you had trouble conceiving this baby. Both mine are IVF so I understand that you're already anxious without the worry of not feeling movement.
Water never weeks for me with DD, even when being checked in hospital. I use Coke and it never fails :-)
Hope you start to feel more movements and can relax a bit. Talk to your midwife/GP if you're struggling with feeling anxious about the pregnancy, I should have done in hindsight xx

I had this with DC1 and didn't feel any movement until 20 weeks. A few weeks later though I felt plenty of movement and only had one trip to hospital because I was worried. I'm sure it will pick up soon x

Hey Falcon. Try not to worry!

I had an anterior placenta with DD and wasn't sure I had felt her until 25/26 weeks. By 30 weeks I was getting well and truly pummelled and later DH could see hands and feet poking out all over the place!

To be honest, you'll feel so much in a few weeks that not feeling the little flutters now won't matter x
