How to deal with boredom in the last few weeks of pregnancy?

I'm 36 weeks and bored out of my mind.

DS1 was born during my 36th week, so i was super-organised and got everything ready by about week 34 in case it happened again. Well it hasn't. So everything is ready, everything is clean and organised, i'm on maternity leave and just have nothing to do apart from the school run, cooking meals for the freezer and just generally running the house. I don't drive, so it's difficult for me to take myself off for the morning and be back in time for afternoon pick-up.

Over the past two days, my lower back has been incredibly stiff and i've really been having the worst braxton hicks whenever i walk anywhere, so i'm just a bit fed up. All of my friends are at work, DP's at work. I'M JUST SO BORED!

I've tried starting some new sewing projects, all of which i've now completed and i don't think i could start any more due to having to sit at the machine for long periods (don't think it would do my back any favours). I'm open to any suggestions- ANYTHING! All i seem to be doing is waiting for the baby to arrive and it's driving me nuts. Help!

Sleep? Read a book? You know, all those things you won't be doing for at least a year when baby arrives.

OP, you are not lazy enough. Find a marvellous television show that you haven't seen before and watch several seasons of it back to back.

May I recommend Game of Thrones.

What about trying new baking recipes? Craft project like mosaic mirror or refurbishing a small (light) piece of furniture like a foot stool. Try local charity shops.. I know I can't stand being bored and must be the only teacher who hates hanging around the house during summer holidays. Sad

Could you plant up some herb pots/hanging baskets of rocket etc. to add to your frozen meals ?

Library visit might be a good one. Treat yourself to facial or manicure or something nice. Coffee shop visits pass the time.

Good luck with everything xx

Have you got Netflix? The first month is free and there are lots of different series on there, plus films. It's amazing how quickly you get drawn into a series. DH & I started watching 24 and lost a whole weekend to it. We don't dare start series 2 yet for fear of the same addiction.

Yes yes to Netflix! I enjoyed Pride and prejudice (BBC version) in my last week of pregnancy. Definitely worth the money.

Diagnosis Murder is an amazing way to pass vast hours!

cookethenook - I could have written this post myself. I'm 37 weeks but otherwise we're in the same boat. My boy is only at nursery 2 days a week so I do have him to run after some of the time but the boredom is eating me up. 9 (well actually more like 10) months is an awfully long time to do anything and I'm fed up with it. The baby has moved down so now I've got backache to deal with too. Just want to meet the baby now!

rooty i like your style! Unfortunately, i'm up to date on GOT. Perhaps i could make a start on the books (not sure i'd get very far with them with my pregnancy-addled brain though!).

I do have Netflix. I have the US version too, so there is about twice as much on there. The only problem is there is so much to choose from i spend about an hour deliberating over what to watch! 2labradors have watched the first series, so will make a start on the second next week, thanks :) Pride and Prejudice and Diagnosis Murder sound great too.

Baking is an excellent suggestion paddy. I have a pinterest board full of stuff i've been meaning to make, so will get cracking. Have been gardening all week (mainly pottering, i must admit).

party i hear you! Evening primrose oil and lots of bouncing on that exercise ball for us i think :)

Thanks! Keep them coming!
