iv been in and out of hospital for the last 4 weeks.
First time I was in for four days and they found out on the last day after testing my urine several times a day that it was a urine infection. to be honest I felt brushed off as wouldnt they ov picked that up alot sooner? Hmm
last time they just kept me on a monitor then sent me home with no explanation.

these pains are horrendous. I cant stop my body from pushing and im nearly blacking out from pain. they give me gas and air witch to be honest just takes my mind of it slightly. they give me codeine or somethinf and that doesnt help. iv had pethadene (sp?) that didnt help. just knocked me out.
im 35 weeks and I really cant take this anymore. Sad
everytime I go there they say my cervix is long and closed.
please tell me theres something they can do. im on the verge of a breakdown.Sad Sad Sad

Im sorry i have no idea what they should be doing but hope they dont leave you too long feeling like that. Though at 35 weeks i think baby is stil considered premature so they wont induce you i dont think. Are u getting steriods for babys lungs?

Report
SammyFirstBaby · 30/03/2013 15:46

Im so sorry it must be awful, do they have you on a trace to monitor baby and contractions? How is baby doing with it all? after all they cant leave you to keep going if baby is getting tired.I had pethadine with my ds and wouldnt touch the stuff again!

im not there at the moment because I feel like there just gonna brush me off. His movementa have slowed down alot the last few days to. plus im very wet down there sorry for tmi, but its not a trickling or anything. could it be my waters?

Could still be your waters tho im not sure, dont let then brush you off esp if movements arent what they were. Call triage if your hospital has a maternity one or delivery if not and tell them you have reduced movements, suspect you may be losing amniotic fluid and are still in lots of pain. I wouldnt even give them the option id just say i need to be seen. Let me know how you get on.

You can be 1cm for weeks I believe, or progress and have the baby in the next 24hrs. Sadly no way of knowing, what have they said?

Hopingforno2 · 30/03/2013 23:54

Like prev poster said no way of knowing, have they kept you in this time? I dont know how common it is but i was 2-3cm and didnt even know i was in labour and was told u can be dialted a while before having baby esp if its not a 1st baby. What are the midwives saying? Are you contracting still?

Report
SammyFirstBaby · 31/03/2013 00:03

well first they took me to the wrong hospital. now im stuck in triage.
This hospital is the worse

U poor thing, havent they said what they intend to do? I know when ive been in triage in can take a long time to be seen by a doctor tho midwives usually see you quickly

sammy im sorry you are having such a rubbish time! I hope they had you hooked up to a trace to see how baby is and look at contractions as i wouldnt have thought it was normal to be left in agony for weeks! Im guessing they have checked your urine? As an infection will need treatment if thats to blame.

Report
SammyFirstBaby · 31/03/2013 12:08

they checked it and it just had a little protein in it.
so now I dont know whats going home. they just sent me home saying everything's fine. Sad

It sounds like irritable uterus, it sucks, but everything technically IS fine. Try and relax, stay well hydrated and distract yourself as much as possible. Have you a midwife you can chat to about it?

Did you mention the reduced movements? Was anything showing on the trace/CTG?

Report
Hopingforno2 · 31/03/2013 12:38

Yes what sundae said what did the trace show as reduced movement would worry me too? It sucks they cant help more but if it continues would they consider inducing you at 37-38 weeks? Seems a long way off i know but at least you would have a sooner end date in site.

I think ill ask her when I see her next witch isn't for 4 weeks as shes so booked up. Sad
the trace said hes fine. they know he a small baby but they just don't seem to understand why im worried.
on top of all that they lost my notes.

4 weeks seems a long time at your gestation tho im not sure of the normal as im a high risk preg due to diabetes and have been seen twice a week since 34 weeks ( im 37+3 with baby #2) and im going in for elcs this week at 38 weeks exactly so cant see why when you are in horrible amounts of pain they couldnt induce you at 38 weeks i believe 'term' is 37 weeks. Im glad trace shows baby is ok but if movement is still decreased i would still insist on getting checked again, i got told they would rather see you 10 times for it to be fine than miss anything important but it doesnt sound like your hospital is just as friendly. How are you feeling now?

Report
SammyFirstBaby · 01/04/2013 12:39

I should be seen every week by now, but she only works one day a week. its ridiculas. one min im dialted the next I'm not. im still always damp. and his movements are hardly there. but if I go hospital they send me home.
boyfriends getting sick of hospitals and the bad treatment too Sad

What is it you want them to do?

If you go in with a set plan in mind and are firm to that (within reason) then they will take note. If you get nervous when speaking to the doctors then write down questions and what you want so you don't forget anything.

Have you requested a scan?

Urine infections can be really painful (I had them about every 2 second when pregnant) have you been following the instructions on the medication to the letter?

How recently gave you had the pethidine? That could be the reason the baby isn't moving so much if its very recent.

You can be up to about 3cm dialated and not be in labour ime, and with the 1cm it can open and close all the time.

Its so hard and frustrating being so far along and in so much pain, 5 weeks sounds like 5 years especially when you are panicked about whats going on but you being so stressed won't help with the pain either, make sure you are resting plenty and having long warm baths often (I practically lived in the bath towards the end of my pregnancies).

Oh and DO NOT under any circumstances google your symptoms that will make you feel worse.

I'm sorry the end of your pregnancy is so rough for youThanks

to be honest, it sounds terrible but I really just want him out. im in so much pain i cant do it anymore.
I had the pethadine about a month ago when I was in for four days, and they said I dont have an infection. I feel like im having a bad, like really bad period. The pains go from my tummy tightening round to my bum.
I had a scan and hes head down but when I was in lewisham they used the spectrum (not sure if tgats what its called) couldnt see anything but when she checked with her fingers I was 1-2cm. and at croydon they obly used tge spectrum.
I know itd be to early but iv been in and out with this pain for nearly two months.

Its really miserable being so sore, and I know very few women who get to 35 weeks pregnant and don't just want the baby out, but unless there is a risk to you and/or your son they won't induce you Sad

For the pain try baths, hot water bottles, I also rolled up a duvet lay on the couch and got myself comfortable around it (usually by putting it between my knees, laying on my side and resting my bump on it) for the pain take paracetamol every 5 or 6 hours to take the edge off. Get your urine checked weekly and try to get a scan just to set your mind at ease. Count his kicks and keep a note of them, its so easy to think he isn't kicking as much but if its written down then you can actually see it. And remember he is growing so won't have as much room as he did 10 weeks ago so it will be different from then.

If there is any change at all go to the hospital, don't let them make you feel stupid for going in for 'nothing', you are better getting checked and not needing it than needing it and not being checked.

This is the last stretch, you can do it, I promise, this time next month you will be snuggled up with your son and won't give 2 hoots what you went through to get him here Thanks

Im sorry you are still suffering but def keep a track of his movements and if concerned never take no for an answer to getting checked
