Paternity Leave over Bank Holidays

I am already overdue and could go into labour at any time now, if not then I get induced on Friday.

If I go into labour for instance today, will my OH's paternity leave start tomorrow and he goes back 2 weeks later of will he get the extra 2 days off due to the bank holidays? Or will be miss out on those?

I suspect it's 2 weeks so he loses the two extra days ie. having 8 "holiday days" off rather than 10?

He should be able to choose when he starts his paternity leave. It doesn't have to be the day lo is born.
My DH is waiting till lo is here to decided when to start as he works shifts with rest days and doesn't want to loose them.
Good luck!

I think that he should be able to take those 2 bank hols after, depends what his contract states about public holidays though. I think he should still be entitled to the 2 days as well as the pat leave.

I you are induced on Friday, I suggest he requests to start paternity on Tuesday? He can request to start it whenever.

I has a planned CS on a Wednesday. So DH worked on Thursday an Friday (while I was in hospital) and then started paternity leave the following Monday.

If he has asked to start from the day your baby is born, then I guess his company might hold him to that. Because our date was planned, DH was able to book AL for the day and then take paternity from the following Monday.

Good luck with the next few weeks :)

ds was born over xmas so we had 3 bh's. he had them added on to the end of his pat leave as he gets bh's off contractually.

Thanks everyone for the good luck wishes! I need them! I feel I have had the gestational period of an elephant now :)

Thanks it sounds like it's just worth checking with his company.

If I get induced on Thursday then that makes it easier because his PL will start next Tuesday but if he starts tomorrow then I suppose he will start it tomorrow and then it becomes an issue. I will tell him to check with his company on their policy.
