Pregnancy

Am i the only one that doesnt like it when baby kicks?

When i had my scan the sonographer said that the placenta was right at the back so that will bw why i felt movements earlier/stronger. Everyone i speak to says about what an amazing feeling it is feeling their baby kick or how much they miss being pregnant because of it.. and im starting to feel like a freak because i really dont like it.

Im so excited to meet my ds and every other aspect of the pregnancy is great but i just feel guilty for hating the feeling of him kicking. Sometimes i just want it to stop he really makes me jump and doesnt give it a rest. Does anyone else feel like this or have i just got a wriggler and im being a grump about it?

How many weeks are you?

I'm of with dc2 and with DS I loved the movements but this one seems to sometimes kick me in a way that makes me squeamish.

You may find you get used to them over time

Im 22 weeks and i diddnt think they would be this strong so quick. It just makes me jump and kind of irritates me. Saying that with these hormones kicking round at the mo everythings irritating me so that probably isnt helping!

I wasn't keen after the kicks got a bit stronger last time I was pg. It just made me a bit squeamish to think about this thing moving inside me! Am currently pg with DS2 & I'm quite liking it this time. The kicks are only just getting stronger though so I might change my mind soon! It's highly annoying that his favourite time to really start jiggling is just when I want to sleep! V inconsiderate!

You are not alone. Mine initially used to kick in the groin. Although it was very painful the MW just said "nothing you can do will help until the baby turns head down". I don't know if the baby has turned but atleast now I only get the minor kicks in the evening and none near my groin.

I have never said it out loud but I feel exactly the same! It's not a nice pleasant sensation at all. It's feels like a jolt or sharp kick.

My baby is head down and I get really painful boots in my ribs. The baby shuffling around can also be really uncomfortable and take my breath away. It's not a nice sensation, and can be really annoying if the baby is partying when I want to go to sleep. However, it is also reassuring and so if I haven't felt a kick in, ooh, half an hour, I get a bit antsy and start poking my bump.

Mine were right wrigglers.
But when one of them almost stopped doing it, I knew something was wrong.
All turned out ok, but I was glad he kicked so much in the first place.

I can usually get the baby to stop wriggling by saying 'DH, come and feel this!'. Hmm

He has occasionally looked on in horror as the baby's arse makes a clear attempt to break free from my stomach like in Alien.

I'm due this week and the kicks have reached a new level of fierceness! I'm glad I managed to get some of the weird undulating stomach action on video as however painful/uncomfortable it is, I'm sure I will miss it when DD is born.

She normally becomes really active just as I'm going to bed but when the lights go out I turn over, say goodnight to her and she is normally quiet for a few hours and so it shall continue after she is born

You are not alone, when I got the first flutters that was fine but as the baby got bigger (now 38 weeks) it make me feel squeamish.Seeing it moving under my skin sometimes seems really wierd but then you know they are ok. A strange one but no you are not alone.

Your post could have been written by me at 22 wks. I really didn't like feeling the baby move (or seeing it on scan) - it freaked me out and a loud voice in my head kept on shrieking 'IT'S ALIVE!!!' (Which I know is technically a good thing) while that scene from Alien flashed in front of my eyes. But I've gotten used to it now (29 wks) even though it can be annoying at times when it gets particularly active/pokey.

noblegiraffe EXACTLY the same here. Every time I put my DPs hand on my belly she stops moving... She knows...

Im in my last week of pregnancy. I've currently got what feels like one of DD's many tentacle like limbs stuck under my rib, pushing it out of place and making me feel like I've been kicked by a horse. I keep checking for bruising.
It's either that or she is head butting my bladder, sometimes both!

It's not always nice but its always reassuring, especially if she's been quiet for a time.

I'd think yourself lucky that you can feel him move a lot. You're only pregnant for a short time, so it's not really a lot to put up with. I lost my DS2 at 26 weeks after reduced/no movement for a couple of days and am now 26 weeks pregnant with DS3. I must spend about every other minute of the day obsessing over whether or not he's moving about. I thank my lucky stars that thus far he is proving to be quite a little wriggler.

Believe me, if you've ever been on the other side of this you would not be finding yourself getting irritated about your baby's movements.

It's a wriggler! Mines the same. You will get used to it (even at 3am in the morning when your bladder is being used as a football) Smile

I have been on both sides, after pregnancies that didn't end well it was nice to have an active baby.

With DS he just didn't stop and he was so strong, he would stretch out and it would be agony.

You're not being a grump, I'm the same, but getting used to it a bit now. At first when it was just flutters, I was indifferent to the feeling - didn't hate it, but I didn't particularly like it either. When I first started feeling proper kicks a couple of weeks ago, I really didn't like the feeling. It reminds me of when I get a bad heart palpitation, when it drops a beat and forces the next one out, but in my tummy and I don't like that feeling. I am getting used to it now but it still makes me jump when I am trying to sleep and when it is in a different place than it normally is it throws me.

So to cut a long ramble short, don't feel bad for not liking the kicks, I think it's more common than people let on.

I love feeling the baby move (the bubbly feeling at the bottom of my stomach), but I don't love the kicks particularly (have yet to feel kicks with this pregnancy though, am 18 weeks).

Yes me too! Although I think in my case it's a head butting bladder problem... Which is very uncomfortable and makes me think i'm gonna piss my pants! Spend much of the day emptying my bladder as a result.
