Pregnancy

Feeling guilty about my diet :-(

I'm 40+7 and in the past couple of weeks I've been eating crap. I think it's because I've had the mindset that each day could be my last day of pregnancy, I've been on maternity leave and meeting up with people and there's been a lot of cake and sugary treats on offer.

I've continued to take vitamins but I feel so guilty that my poor baby has been getting a load of crap or too much sugar in the last couple of weeks. Sad

All my babies had sugar puffs and custard creams throughout my pregnancies !
The baby will be taking all it needs, don't worry
Also good luck!

Also I'm a big believer in your body knows what it needs, I'm sure at 40 weeks you need the energy

I've been doing the same although I have been eating the healthy stuff as well as the sugary stuff!

I'm hoping to stop all the naughty stuff once baby is here so am enjoying every mouthful now!

Mayim - was thinking (hoping!) you had had the baby, you hadn't posted in a while! It will be fine, really. I was so much better with my last pregnancy than this one, and I don't feel guilty at all. The baby will get what it needs from you - think back 30 years or so when pregnant women used to drink and smoke!

DH's mother smoked lots when she was pregnant with him, she doesn't eat much bar chicken and potatoes or drink milk, and he's sickeningly healthy - more so than I am, he was ff and weaned at 10 weeks (on bacon, mostly says MIL).

I was bf until six months and weaned and reared on homegrown organic veg and meat from our farm - I have asthma, excema and am prone to stomach bugs. I know this is anecdotal, but it just goes to show that we can only do so much. Your baby will be fine:)
