Bump at 5 weeks, or too much chocolate?

Hello ladies,

I'm only 5 weeks pg, but am sure I'm getting a bit of a bump already, or it may be that I've eaten too much chocolate and cake Blush This is my second baby, and I know that you usually start to show earlier after the first one, but surely not at 5 weeks?

I'm also on my second and 5 weeks pg..and I definitely have a bump! It's teeny tiny but my tummy isn't as flat as it used to be. I'm hoping for twins Grin

If it's twins you could easily have a bump! The likelihood though is that it's podge - sorry!! When I was at 5 weeks I hadn't gained any actual weight but my tummy felt HUGE. I wasn't sure if it was psychosomatic or if there was actually swelling from all the stuff going on inside. Turned out to be the latter as a few weeks later it went down again.

Am now 13 and a half weeks and it's back with a vengeance. I've only gained 3lbs but stuff is much tighter around the tum. I'm assuming it's everything getting bigger at this point!

I got very bloated around that time. Felt crap! Not too much choc or proper bump, just puffed up like a balloon.

I definitely thickened round the middle very early on with my first pg and this one (9 wks). Wishful thinking for me to call it a bump though people who see me swimming might wonder about my pie consumption.

Your baby won't be any bigger than a sesame seed at 5 weeks so the bump won't be because of that. You could be bloated though which would cause a bump, lots of pregnancy hormones cause bloating.

Congratulations, by the way Thanks

It's probably bloating. You'd be forgiven for thinking I'm 6 months pregnant just now, I'm only just gone 3 months but have bloated so badly.

Maybe it's water retention?

I think it's probably a combination of being bloated, and too much chocolate Smile I never got particularly big with DS, even when I arrived at the hospital when I was in labour the midwives thought my bump was fairly small.

I'm 8 weeks with my second and I noticed it a few weeks ago. I didnt show till 15-16 weeks wih my first so it was a shock! Think it is bloating and perhaps a bump not from baby but from the uterus or something... Who knows. It is bump shaped anyway, not podge!

My friend told me that on her fourth she showed the day after conception Grin

it's bloating i had this from weeks 5 - 7 and then it went down (causing me of course to worry!) ... it then only started looking like a bump again around week 17ish

I had bloating from 4-5 weeks with my second, before I knew I was pg. I think people were being polite when I 'announced' my pregnancy at 13 weeks as it was quite clear I was already pg!
