Lovely to hear some good news. What an awful time to put you through that kind of worry.

How exciting that you know you'll meet your baby soon! Is this your first?

That's the same gap as there'll be between my two. I'm due in April and just told DS last week. What does your DS think about becoming a big brother?

I remember a friend of mine had a 4 year gap between their boys. They told their first son all about the little brother he was going to have, and how they could play together. In retrospect they realise he was expecting a fully formed toddler to play with! When the baby came home he took one look at it, and said "is that it?!". Distinctly unimpressed! Grin (They get on great now).

Good luck Spice17,

Aufaniae, my DS can't wait to meet the new addition to the family, he loves that he will be a big brother. we've kept him involved through most of the pregnancy. He's been to nearly every scan i've had to see baby on the special screens. and he has helped pick out furniture to go into his bedroom ready for when baby arrives. Also we brought him a book called 'new baby' and it tells the story through the eyes of the older children in the family about how their mummy had to go to hospital and stay there a few days, then they went to pick her and the new baby up. it also explains how mummy and daddy seemed really busy to start with looking after baby all the time, but once baby had settled down mummy and daddy were able to play again with the older children. So i been using it as a reference book to explain how i'll be going away for a few days to have baby and how i might be really tired when i get home.

I'm hoping it has helped him understand a bit better about the baby's arrival. he loves telling people that he's going to be a big brother and giving everyone a tour round the house to show off all the things for baby.
