Ok so I have my scan this friday and my boyfriend has an operation that friday (personal problems)
Hell be back out the next day but is so upset he's going to miss my appointment.
I told him I can bring a picture back.
But will they let me record the heart beat on my phone for him to hear?
I'm at kings btw

Can you not change your scan? I know they don't like doing it but maybe if you explain?? They do get cancellations.

I called them and asked and they said it wouldn't be for minimum 2 weeks!!
Bit stupid that I have to wait that long so would rather not do that!

Could you take your BF along to your next appointment with your community MW - he should be able to listen to the heartbeat then.
(Sorry if that appt. is weeks away - I can't remember when they routinely happen as it's been a long while for me).

In my scans there was no listening to heartbeat - that was done by the midwife.

I didn't get to hear the heartbeat at my 12 week either so he might not miss it anyway.

yep same here, I just saw the heartbeat, didn't hear it until my 16 week midwife appointment.

Just make sure he can go to the 20 week scan, you can see more at that one anyway. Will you be able to take someone else along with you instead to your 12 week?

Same - we didn't hear the heartbeat. I barely saw anything of the scan either, which is apparently not uncommon.

Here they won't let you hear the heartbeat until 16 weeks.

I'd keep the appointment. If its anything like here you'll wait weeks for another one (my 12 week scan is scheduled for 16 weeks Angry because i had to cancel the 1st appointment offered).

Sammy - ask about a DVD, I was offered a DVD recording at St George's so Kings might offer the same thing?

I had my dating scan yesterday. I heard the heart beat. I saw lots as they had a screen on the wall directly in front of the couch I was lying on, so you see everything. It was an amazing experience ( first baby), my husband was with me and he would not of wanted to miss it.
I would go for the scan, because they might rescan you a few weeks later anyway. I'm going to have another scan in 3 weeks as my pregnancy related cyst hasn't dispersed yet.

The 12 week scan is when they take the nuchal measurements to check for problems like Downs, so unless you are opting out of that you should keep the appointment. If you wait a few weeks it will be too late.

Can you take someone else with you? I wouldn't have wanted to go to that one alone, as not everyone gets good news.
