TMI - looks like mucus plug at 10 weeks?

Hi all

Sorry if TMI but when I wiped this evening after going to the loo, I had a blob extremely thick, jelly like mucus. It was clear and I haven't had any pains or bleeding but I'm freaking out that it was my plug. I do have a lot of discharge when pregnant but not like this... I'm 10+1.

Any ideas? Have you had it and been OK?

Thanks....

ps, I'm seeing my midwife for booking in tomorrow so will mention it then, but any reassurance gratefully received!

Hi Jessie,

I have had this a couple of times too, once at about 24ish weeks and again yesterday at 33 weeks. I doubt it's your plug so I wouldn't worry. I have had a variety of discharge throughout this pregnancy Confused but as long as there is no pain, bleeding, smell or itching I think it's just one of the delights we have to put up with!

All the best

I had that - only a small amount though. No idea why, but it was weeks ago and everything was fine afterwards.

I'm also 10+1!

A few times, when I've been to the loo (particularly after a tricky poo) I've had a few blobs of EWCM.

Obviously the first time I panicked and got googling immediately and much to my relief I read it was quite common and therefore, in my mind, nothing to worry about.

Mention it to your midwife tomorrow but I wouldn't be too scared by it. Without pain and or bleeding I doubt it's anything sinister.

Thanks all, I'm on edge after a mc last pregnancy and although I had a lovely early scan with a very wriggly baby on Tuesday, I'm still worried.

Rue yay for 10+1! Come and join the antenatal thread if you're not already on there...

Hello, I had what you're describing all through pregnancy was, for me, just v heavy discharge. Do bring it up with midwife/GP as always best for your mind if nothing else to err on the side of caution. Just thought I'd tell you my experience to say it could well be nothing to worry about.

Good luck!

You can get heavier discharge all the way through pregnancy. Also if you're having sex then there's nowhere for all the er - spunk - to go (it runs into your plug) so IME it all hangs about up there for a day and then comes globbing out again. Lovely.

My first thought was are you sure it isn't semen?

Hi all - just to update, I spoke to the midwife today and she said that it's likely a bit of the plug that's been dislodged by sex but it will regenerate itself and is nothing to worry about.

I'm 35 and I got all giggly at the mention of sex. Sigh.
