Which companies offer the best cover. I'm off to Ibiza next week at 30+5 pregnant and wanted to get good cover.

Not sure if it's any better than others but I've got travel insurance with virgin. Off to Majorca when 18 weeks pregnant.

They told me I was covered for all pregnancy issues although I'm sure there is some clauses in there!!!

Have a good time

Firstly, do you have an EHIC card? If so, then probably not a problem.

Re travel insurance, I've recently read that no travel insurance policy will cover the actual birth (don't know if this is 100% true), which could be a nightmare if you gave birth prematurely and don't have an EHIC or are in a country that has no reciprocal healthcare agreement. See this article:

www.huffingtonpost.ca/2012/03/26/piper-kan-australia-bc-baby_n_1380652.html

"Rachel Evans says they went out of their way to find a travel insurer that covered pregnancy up to the 27th week and paid extra for pregnancy coverage, which included 'unexpected events associated with pregnancy'. She says a telephone operator assured them the coverage included births, but midway through their stay in Vancouver, they were shocked to learn that wasn't the case."

I phoned my existing insurer (coop) before going to the Middle East and quizzed them rigorously and they said my existing policy covered me for pregnancy complications, premature birth and care of myself and baby after birth. I made sure I got that in writing though! Fortunately didn't need to use it, so couldn't tell you how good they are though!
