When did your breasts stop growing?

I've gone up at least 2 cup sizes already. I was a smallish C and am now only just fitting in DD. I'm currently 21 weeks.

My partner may be happy but I am not.

Obviously everyone is different but I am rather horrified at the thought I may be in Es or more shortly.... Would anyone mind telling me when they stopped expanding? How much more money will I have to spend waste on bras that will only last a few weeks?

Mine started at an A cup and ended up at a D cup a couple of weeks after birth and stayed that way until I gave up breastfeeding. Sorry if this is bad news.

Oh dear, I might really topple over then.

ermm....there is no upward limit. you will probably grow a bit further when you actuall give birth....

it is annoying.

i was always a d cup, but then up to g, and slowly back down....

Everyone's different. I've gone up one cup size (now 37w) but have allowed for another cup size when buying nursing bras (which was fine last time for me).

The nursing bras are an E cup. I reckon DH and I could wear one as a lovely tandem hat.

Before DD1 I was a DD cup. I went up to about an E/F with her, then back to a DD. With DD2, I went up to a FF/G cup and they never went back down (even though my overall weight did). Now I'm 29 weeks with DD3, and they are definitely more G than FF, but have expanded slightly rather than going ballistic like last time. DH is very happy.

'and they never went back down'
New horrors to consider.

Love the idea of doubling bras as a hat. Grin

I was more like a DD when I was younger and hated it as so many of the clothes I wanted to wear looked atrocious. I lost a bit of weight and they shrank right down but I rather fear they like being larger.

Pre-pregnancy I was a 32C. I am currently wearing a 38D with a two-inch bra extender thingy on it. I'm 34 weeks. And they're getting bigger.

Remember that it's not just your cup size that may go up, your band size will too as your ribs expand.

'and they never went back down'

Shock Shock Shock

I was a 34F before the pg, at 10 weeks I'm already up to 34FF and I've had to buy new tshirts as I couldn't shoehorn my boobs in anymore - I am positively counting on them going back down after! Shock

I started this PG as a 32H, which is more than enough for anyone. I don't even know if they'll make bras big enough for me where I end up... Confused

I saw a size L bra on sale somewhere the other day, so I think we'll all be OK really!

Sorry my "they never went back down" comment seems to have scared a couple of people. Didn't mean to Blush.

Honestly, I have no problem with my bra size - I actually like it. I have always been curvy, even in my slim younger days - still had hips, bum, boobs, a rounded tummy, IYSWIM. I also have wide shoulders, so my boobs balance those out a bit! Of course, I now have a 2 CS belly (waiting for a third), and wish I didn't, but that is something I can work on... and I will, honestly! I actually hope I don't lose my boobs if I lose weight.

It's true that not all clothes suit all body types, but that goes for people who are slim as well as more curvy, busty, whatever. Without going all Gok Wan / Trinny & Susanna, I do think all body shapes can look fantastic with the right clothes - a lot of it is working out what suits you, and accepting that it can change over time. This is a bit of a hobby horse for me - I was a designer / dressmaker before the DC sent me on an extended maternity leave, so I'm used to designing things to suit and fit different women.

Right now, we're pg, so our bodies are kind of doing their own thing - scary, but IMO best to just go with it and not beat ourselves up. Pity about the expenditure on new bras though, and obviously discomfort in that area is no joke, so my sympathies to anyone with sore boobs!

Started as a B and ended up a G with DD1. Boobs were and E before birth and then grew to a G when the milk came in. Hated having such big boobs and in no way did I feel sexy, despite DH liking my bigger boobs.

DH keeps squidging them and making honking noises... but he did that anyway... :o

I started at 34C and right now at 24 weeks, I'm up to a 38DD. No sign of them increasing again just yet I hope!

Started 32E. Went up to 36F whilst pg. now in 32F nursing bras (1 month in) and tbh they are too small on the cup, especially the right hand side Blush I should probably be in a 32G at least.

Last time it took me about 6 months after stopping bf to go back down to normal but I think that was mainly due to having put on about a stone after having DS1. Boobs deflated in line with the rest of me IYSWIM.

I was very cross as my friend ASSURED me that her boobs (34DD pre pg) had permanently shrunk down to a much more manageable c cup after BFing. But no such luck for me.

MillyStar - I'm with you. 34 weeks and I wear my normal, wired bras. Ok, not all of them are super comfy but the ones which were "bigger" b cups fit now as they should. Oh well, maybe later ... still 6,7, weeks to go!

Goldrill · 16/03/2012 10:22

Right - I am now feeling very hard done by! I went up a couple of back sizes first time round (34E to 38E) and my boobs were definitely a bit more solid but not a great deal bigger.

I have now been BF DD for 15 months and am roughly a 36D, but in a deflated and saggy kind of way! At 9 weeks pregnant I was expecting them to have at least reinflated by now - but nothing is happening!

I thought that at least for a few brief months I might regain my pertness but fear it may be gone for good [sobs]...

I started as a C and was a DD by 16 weeks. I'm now 39+6 (gulp!) and they seem to have got a bit bigger again recently although I've stuck with what I've got as I didn't want to buy some and then have to buy more again once the baby arrives and milk comes in. I have, however, just bought nursing bras - a whole new nightmare guessing what size you might become - and after lots of trying on, loosening and tightening, the lady in John Lewis recommended buying an F.

I saw a size L bra in John Lewis (made by Royce or something!).

With DS1 I started at a 32B and went up to 34D. I'm currently 17 weeks and at 34C but only started as a 32C.

I started at 42D and ended up 44GG, and have never gone back down Sad they give me back ache and they are so uncomfortable especially in the summer.

The worst was when my milk came in, because it came in 3 days after i had my section, so thought that they wouldn't get any bigger, but not only did they swell to mammoth proportions the skin was so stretched with the milk in, they were shiney!
2 shiney massive pink leaking boulders of frustration.

Report
Catsycat · 16/03/2012 11:50

I had the shininess too OTT, and they were so burning hot you could have fried an egg on them. At least that didn't last for more than a few hours.
