How much weight did you put on while pg?

I'm 34 weeks and I've gained 3.5 stones. I can see the weight gain on my arms, legs, face, hips etc. To be fair, I have been eating like there's going to be a famine tomorrow.

How about you?

v. good question. Hadn't thought much about the weight gain.

About 3 stone each time

I'm still working it all off, such a pain.

About two stone both times.

But first pg I was walking to work and back every day and working ft so I walked about 4 miles a day then on my feet all day at work.

Second pg I lost 9 pound with morning sickness then made up for it when the sickness passed and ate my weight in olives, pickles, beet root, Pepsi,.

Lots of things affect your weight gain in pg, as long as your eating more healthy things and rubbish I wouldn't worry too much about weight gain. You'll lose best part of a stone of it through labour anyway.

I've ended up with 42 pounds to lose. But the last 14 I put on after having my twins through a largely night based diet of chocolate doughnuts and snaffling up whole slabs of chocolate while breastfeeding. I can't say I regret it. It was the good life!

About 3 stone so far and am 29 Weeks , same thing happened with dd1 and most of it disappeared by the time she was about 3-4 months old.

My mum gained weight by just looking at food whilst pregnant with me and my sister, and my sister turned into a human beach ball in all three of her pregnancies. It just seems to be the way women in our family are built.

About 4.5 stone each time. Came off within about 8 or 9 months with DS - took longer with DD but did all come off in the end.

With dd1 I put on around 15lbs and gained another 7lbs AFTER wards thanks to takeaways and the occasional drink. This time with dd2 I've put on 3lbs!!! Lost well over a stone thanks to morning sickness. Don't know my accurate weight until dd2 arrives in a few weeks. Chances are it may pile back on afterwards again x

Technically, nothing so far. (33+4)

I lost weight due to Morning Sickness in the early weeks (13-14lbs), and havent yet regained that weight. I imagine I will have done by term, but once baby is born, I will definately be ending this PG lighter than I started.

While its great knowing that I wont have a lot of weight to lose after the PG, (it took me ages with DD1, even though I wasnt particularly big then) it has given me a gaunt, swallowed a football, kind of look that im not sure I entirely appreciate. :(

4 stone, every time for 4 children, the first three times it dropped off easily and I was back to normal within 3 months, without trying at all.
This time around i'm struggling with the last stone, although I haven't exactly hit the gym, I think it's a time issue with 4 children.

I put 2 stone on with DD (aged 4). I kept 1 stone (boo!) and have put on about 5lbs so far with DC 2 (due in August).

3 stone with DS and took 9 months to get back to pre-pregnancy weight although I was in my normal 'big day' clothes a week after giving birth.

2 1/2 stone so far this time and am 30+6 but having a 2 year old means I spend much less time sitting around Grin

I put on 4 stone when pregnant with DS, and felt like an elephant. Even my face got fat. However, I lost it all within about 7 months.

Am currently 5 weeks pregnant with DC2, and am determined not to eat so many bicuits this time!

Well I have lost about 10kg since week 8, now on week 29 and finally started regaining weight.
It was the sickness I had up until week 25 that did it, but the bump is measuring correct size so not too bothered about the weight loss.

Loads and loads. Honestly, was enormous despite being very active.

DS is 6mo and I'm the same size as pre-pregnancy. It'll go, fear not.

With dd and ds I put on about 4.5 stone Blush I had crippling SPD and a, erm, healthy appetite Blush With dd it was all off after about 10 months, with ds it took longer to begin to lose it but I was the slimmest I'd ever been in my life by 18 months. For me, I'm one of the unfortunate ones who hangs onto every last ounce when I'm breastfeeding, it just will not come off until I reach some magical point in time where my body just lets it go. With dd that happened much earlier, I don't know why.
This time, I am 38 weeks and have put on just under 2 stone. I've had no SPD, have been carrying on as normal and haven't stuffed myself with ice cream. This pregnancy has been a lot easier as a result of none of the excess weight tbh. We'll see how quickly it goes though, I imagine my body will behave just the same when I'm bfing this time.

Put on about 12 kilos and had lost 10 of them by my six week check. 20 months on I haven't lost any more because I keep eating chocolate and don't get to walk the dog after work anymore. I found it really hard to eat in the last month or so because my stomach was so squashed. I worked out I had about a soup bowls capacity in my stomach and if I ate any more than that I 'overflowed'!

Well it's good to know my 3.5 stones aren't totally excessive and outside the norms of experience. Also good to know you all lost the majority of it within a year.

Can I ask, did you lose it through effort - eg diet and exercise? And if so, how soon after birth did you begin your efforts? Particularly interested to hear from bf mums on this one.

I put on 3.5 stone with DC2 and made the mistake of thinking "oh I'm breast feeding, I can eat whatever I want" so lost nothing through bf!
Lot of hard work, exercising and slimming world to get the weight off both times.
BUT I did an exercise DVD 2 weeks after the birth and because I still had really loose ligaments it made my wrists and elbows do painful I couldn't pick DS up without nearly crying in pain.

My yoga teacher has said that you're not supposed to exercise until 6 weeks after the birth, so this is the date I'm aiming for this time!

I'm 30+5 and have put on 1.5 stone this time but have been eating healthily and going to the gym 4 times a week.

I'm 35 weeks today and i've put about 2.5 stone on

No need for it at all it's been sheer greed and me taking advantage of being pregnant, i went through about a whole month where i had chocolate every single day!

I'll be sorry when i've had her lol i was on diets for sooo long before falling pregnant tho so i've gone wild x

last time I put on 2 and a half stone and lost it in 4 weeks. This time only put on about 2 but still got a month to go. It just came off once the baby was out. Never been on a diet or anything and just walked around lots but my normal pace is most peoples speedy.

I put on 12 kilos (slightly under 2 stone) and most of it came off within a few weeks of the birth, leaving me about 2-3kg heavier than before.
I EBF'ed and didn't diet at all (ate way more than usual but healthily) or exercise, and lost the final kgs at 6 months pp. By 8 months DD was still feeding 6x a day and I had lost another 1.5kg making me lighter than pre-pregnancy. As DD dropped the feeds between 8-12 months I regained the weight and ended up 0.5kg heavier than pre-preg.

This pregnancy (currently 23 weeks) I have gained 6kg (almost a stone) which I am pretty happy with.

I am 24 weeks and have gained about a stone I think. Hopefully not too much more will go on, I think its mainly boobs, baby and fluid. I think I only put about a stone to a stone and a half on last time and lost it pretty quickly as I made a point of walking everywhere, hopefully the same will happen this time.
