Best babymoon destinations please!

DC1 is due in mid August and I would love to have a last holiday just the two of us before hand.

Due to finances (fine to consider a babymoon a neccesity right?!) we are limited to something localish but still fabulous (fingers crossed!).

To give you an idea of things we like, we have previously been on All Inclusives to Mexico and Dominican Republic (great for relaxing) but also love city breaks with some culture and exploring. In an ideal world I would love to go back to New York for a long weekend but, unless we are lucky on the euromillions tonight, then that is a out of reach (anyone have an apartment there they want to lend us for free? Or an airline that would like to fly us there for free?!).

We are currently talking about a long weekend in Prague or Paris perhaps or, DH has suggested an AI week in Morocco but not sure if that would be an issue with vacinations, buffet food etc... That sort of thing (city break or cheap beach holiday) would be perfect but, if not, then a break in the UK would be fab as well - just want to be away somewhere! We live in Yorkshire so suggestions elsewhere welcome!

Final thing - we are thinking of late May due to work restrictions so I would be 28-29 weeks pregnant at that point.

Really looking forward to any suggestions you have or any tales of brilliant pregnancy trips.

Many thanks xxx

Hi,

Why don't you book in to Country House and use the spa lots and lots.

xx

We are going to Santoini for a week in June. No vaccination issues, will be warm but not too hot and should be uber-relaxing!

If we weren't going there we would have chosen Paris definitely.

I would go to Bath, stay at a lovely hotel, eat at nice restaurants and go to the thermae spa place.

Or Paris, or Bruge on the train.

FWIW I have been to Marrakech and amazing as it was, and much as I would love to go back, I wouldn't when I was pregnant. Despite being careful DH and I were both quite violently ill for 36 hours whilst there.

Thanks for the replies.

Lovely idea with the spa but unfortunately me and spas don't mix! I can't stand massages, weird I know!

Will definitely look into Santorini and Bruges. Keep the suggestions coming!

We are going to the Algarve in Portugal for a week in early April when I will be 27ish weeks. We have booked into a lovely, 5 star hotel and plan to make the most of our last pre baby holiday! We chose Portugal as it is still within the EU so healthcare shouldn't be a problem with the E11 card, the flight is not too long and it should be warm and sunny but not too hot.

I'm 18 weeks now and just booked an AI week in Egypt for May...it should be warm enough, nice hotels, reasonably good beach.
I know it's all going a bit crazy over there lately, but it seems they really make the Sharm turistic area protected from all the issues, so it should be quiet and safe.
Flight is not to long and you can grab real bargains lately!

We got married in Prague and its the most beautiful city. You'd probably want to be prepared for lots of walking and that might be far from relaxing at 28 weeks x

I went to Prague for a long weekend for a friend's wedding when I was 34 weeks. We did a fair bit of walking but our hotel was within pretty comfortable walking distance of most attractions. It was fantastic. Easy to get to, and lots to see within a relatively small radius.

FWIW neshi I think Sharm is a great choice for a holiday right now.
I live in Cairo (and was here throughout the revolution last year) and right now what is being reported is very contained to a few streets / blocks in the downtown area. Sharm is a world away from what you'll be seeing on the news.
Also they really need the tourists right now so hopefully you'll have got a good deal and the prices and service there will be good as they want you to come back! May should be warm enough too - I know by then I'll be hugging my AC here in Cairo wishing I was at the beach with you!

Another warning you off Morocco! Best hol ever, worst tummy ever for entire ten days. Beautiful though - one for when DC has left home Wink

We just had a couple of nights in Paris, which was lovely. But by far and away the highlight of the trip was that DH surprise booked our first night in the St Pancras hotel next to the Eurostar, which was AMAZING!!! The most beautiful hotel, fantastic service and really felt spoilt. Worth booking a room
In the old part for the real experience. £££££ though Grin
