Eeeewwww, I feel so sick and what the hell is this taste I have in my mouth all the time?

Had absolutely zero morning sickness with my first pregnancy but this time I'm suffering.

Does ginger really work? Will peppermint tea help (trying to think of anything that is already in cupboards that might help).

Will this nausea last for the whole of the pregnancy?

Hi - it is horrid, isn't it? I felt like I'd been poisoned for until last week (I'm now about 17weeks). Honestly, nothing really helped - it was more about finding things I could tolerate - ice lollies were good, and I've managed to stomach fruit most of the time. Making sure I ate every hour, even if it was just a tiny bit of something avoided the disaster that would happen if my stomach got empty (uncontrollable dry heaving/bringing up bile...). Eat whatever comes into your head as something you might be able to stand.
And the good news? I am now feeling better, but still have to be a bit careful about not leaving it too long between food and not getting too cocky about being able to eat normal things, becasue if I do, The Sick comes back!

Hope you feel better!

I sipped water constantly which helped keep me from being sick although that made the taste worse!!

Try having mints too, I understand mint or ginger will help, but not both for any one person so its a bit of trial and error.

The only other thing was a small (shop-bought) cakes every hour or so. Just to keep energy levels up a bit and something in my stomach to stop the worst of it. And stop eating as soon as you feel you've had enough, don't get too enthusiastic that this meal is going well.

Fruit us helping actually (just had grapes for lunch). Water is a good point as I don't drink enough at the best of times.

It's definitely worse toward the end of the day. I usually feel awful on the way home from work and then for the rest of the evening.

I'm only 8 weeks so I could have weeks more of this (sob).

It will pass but god it's horrible, for me I carried mints everywhere to get rid of that horrible taste, and smarties helped lol not sure why and I'm sure they wouldn't be recommended by ur midwife but a few smarties every half hour sorted me out Grin

What is that taste, why do we get it? I feel like it's the taste that's making me feel sick.
