hi just need somew advise please

I have been off sick today and yesterday and feel really bad as i finish up for my mat leave next Friday!

I have the doctors in an hour and think they may sign me off.

I feel really bad for my work and just wanted some reassurance that i am doing the right thing by taking time off.

If you're too sick to work, then you can't do much about that.

Will this sick leave be counted as maternity leave? I think that's what happens, after a certain point in pregnancy, sick leave is counted as maternity leave?

How many weeks are you? I think being off after 36w would have automatically triggered the start of my mat leave. As it happens I've been unwell so finished at 33w anyway.

Im 35 weeks. I thought that mat leave only started if the illness is due to the pregnancy not sure but will check it out. My work won't start my mat leave early unless i ask anyway as i am needed next week due to what we have on and my maternity cover not being trained enough yet for this.

Will ask the doctor today what he thinks!

Thank you

No, you're right- it would have to be pregnancy related, I thought it was for some reason.

Don't beat yourself up. If you were ill and not pregnant you'd still be just as absent.

if your sick your sick. Sod work, got to do what's best for you and your lil baba

If it's NOT pregnancy related it won't affect the start of your maternity leave. If it is pregnancy related though and your signed off your mat leave will start now.
