Do you ever wonder how it's possible to get any bigger?!

I'm exactly 26 weeks today, and I'm so massive I wonder how on EARTH I can get any bigger!

I was out in H&M today buying some maternity leggings and a new top, and the lady at the checkout asked me should I be out as I look ready to have the baby! I didn't take offence at all, but I've just looked at myself in the mirror and thought yeah, I know what you mean!

I had my DS in Feb 2010, and I can't remember waddling, or struggling to bend down at least before 32 weeks!

I got a lot bigger the second time, sorry to say. My friend had her 4th recently and she was really, really massive. Her MW said that with each pg your muscles weaken and so the bump sticks out more and more, making it look bigger. Put me off having any more, I'm sure my muscles are non existent as it is!

Nope.

I feel tiny at 39+3 - but that is only because I had twins last time and really WAS enormous! Grin. The stretch marks look nice though Hmm.

Seriously sometimes I look down and can't believe how neat and tidy I look! Mind you, have been lucky I've only really put on 'bump' not weight.

frankly i'd worry about gestational diabetes if you are really that big at 26 weeks. i hadn't even told half the people i work with at 26 weeks (also a second child).

as far as I understood, you can start showing earlier with your second but you shouldn't end up bigger.

I only mention GD because my SIL was ENORMOUS with her second and the baby was 10.5 lbs after suspected GD. She had three more children and never got anywhere near as big, by following a GD diet.

Nooby,

I know how you feel. This is dc3 and I am 25w. Amazingly I feel relatively neat this time ( for me... I still have a very large bump, its just not all over yet!), but with DC2 I was properly enormous. I lost count of how many people said.. ooh not long now and nearly fell over when I said , only three or four months..

I think that a short gap between babies, as well as the way you tend to carry, and how the baby is lying all influence what size you are.
Being big does not necessarily imply GD, or even a big baby although I have had big babies but NO sign of GD. I just get Mahoosive when pregnant!

Goodnightmoon, you are obviously very lucky that you have such a neat bump.

Actually, it's funny you should say that Goodnight as I'm having a diabetes test on 3rd Nov! DS was big too so they want to test just in case.

Not overly worried about though.

Thanks mrsrvc - there is quite a short gap between DS and DD so maybe that's why. I don't have it anywhere else, just purely on my bump - I'm very lucky that I can still fit in my pre-pregnancy jeans, I just can't do them up!
