Slight Spotting at 5+2. What can I do other than wait?

As the title says really. I have just noticed brown spotting, very slight, in my undies and when I wipe. I realise it can be something or nothing but, obviously, would like to know as soon as I can. If I call the EPU is there actually anything they can offer (or offer in, say, a week) other than to hang on and see what happens...? I realise it's too small at the moment to see a heartbeat but would they offer to scan in a week, or are there any other ways of confirming what's going on...?
I had a MMC spotted at the 12 week scan so am overly neurotic this time round!
Thanks

hi, baby, try not to worry you know it could be implantation bleed, and as it is brown may just be old blood, if it gey worse or you have pain or blood turns red, them go to A+E they will refer you straight to EPU you will then ask for internal scan this will tell you whats going on, good luck x

Thanks! I realise it's very early to tell much but cannot bear waiting to see! Hopefully it'll be okay (fingers crossed!)

The other thing you can do is get hcg levels tested (a blood test, repeated two days later). These need to be (approx) doubling to indicate things are going well.

The epu isn't a nice place, you are best off at home. If it continues then call the epu yourself rather that getting a gp refferal it will be quicker for you.
All the best x

Personally I would wait. I had slight spotting at 5-6 weeks but realised at this point there was nothing I could do as at that stage a scan won't tell you much. I decided having a scan at that stage could cause more doubt than reassurance. I waited until 8 weeks and got a private scan which was ok (am now 18 wks). I would wait a few days and see how it progresses. Remember you can't do anything to change the outcome, but, I know it is really hard. xx

Hi baby,

So sorry you are going through such an anxious moment. There is every chance that everything is fine.

However, considering your history I would absolutely have an early viability scan at 6.5-7 weeks. Not sure if you can arrange this through your gp or if you would need to go private. But I would highly recommend it.

Once you see a heartbeat, your chances of having a healthy pregnacy rise considerably. And that means you can have a much more relaxed first trimester.

I have been in your shoes and an early scan really is incredibly reassuring.

Just try to avoid going too early. Anything before six weeks (and many recommend 7 just in case your dates are off) is pointless as you may not see a heartbeat and that is really what you need to see.

Best of luck and pls keep us posted.

I had spotting at 6 weeks and everything was fine. I phoned my doctors who advised to go straight to A&E and the sent me for a scan the next day.

I do know that due to previous MC they sent me and if i had not had one previously then they would have asked me to wait so i you should be the same. I would go just now so they can do urine etc and they will book you for a scan as soon as your able to get one. If you wait then might delay getting a scan further and at least they can give you an idea from urine if your hormone levels low.

Hi all, thanks for your replies. I have calmed down a bit now, not just because I have not had any more spotting, and have decided to mention it at my appointment at the hospital on Wednesday (I am a Type 1 diabetic so get rushed into ante natal the second I get the BFP) and see what they suggest.

As some of you have said, the chances of seeing much before 6/7 weeks is minimal anyway and the last thing I want is to go and have an inconclusive scan and have to wait another week or fortnight. I am six weeks on Friday anyway so maybe they'll book me for a scan the week after next or something and then I can hopefully get more of an idea.

I'll keep you posted! Thanks again x
