movement feels.....different

Baby has been very active since well before the 20 wk scan. Lots of reassuring wriggling and kicking. Tis a feisty one!

I am now 26 + 2 and yesterday babys movements seemed to change a bit. I keep trying to explain to DH but its hard to put into words. Instead of definite kicks I was feeling kind of flutterings. Made the mistake of using the word "spasm" to DH and now he is worried baby has had an fit or something. I have hurt my back and have been getting bump pain which I think have made me more paranoid than usual.

Baby is still moving about its just a different sensation........

Any thoughts?

Hi there

I had this at 26 ish weeks - I have a high anterior placenta and I think my bean had moved to a position where I was feeling it differently. However, s/he is now kicking away (I'm 28+2) with a particular penchant for booting me in the bladder Shock. Apparently kicks/squirms/wriggles all count to your babies healthy movements each day(only hiccups don't count but I don't think I've felt these yet)

All that said, if you are in any way worried, don't even think about it, call the MW and talk it through. You won't be wasting time, it's what they are there for.

Thanks for the reassurance. :) I was thinking it was probably down to baby moving into a different position tbh.

I just feels quite odd.......

Maybe I am over thinking!

It's all odd :)

Could be hiccups that you are feeling. Apparently they are weirdly rhythmic (sp?)

Give the MW a call and she'll put your mind at rest

I had this at 26 or 27 weeks. Huge amount of kicks, then went out one night 'til 1am which thoroughly exhausted me so I stayed in bed the next 2 days (it was a bank holiday) and the baby hardly moved. Just faint flutters. Was so worried about it I went to the hospital and got scanned. Much to the bemeusement of the doctor because he could see DS bouncing around and I couldn't feel anything! He'd moved and was obviously still very little then so I couldn't feel it.

He told me I'd come in for nothing etc. etc. So I played devils advocate saying ok I just thought if I felt less movements I should come in but obviously I'm worrying about nothing at which point he hastily backtracked and said it would be worrying from about 30 weeks, before then not so much.

So I'm saying this to reassure you, BUT I would advise at least ringing your midwife and asking for advice.

Same here. Baby did move - I felt a big shift and ever since movements have been a lot less. Then I woke at midnight last night and she was having a party Grin

If worried give your MW a ring and I'm sure they'll see you.

Thank you all.

Yeah maybe its fluttery hiccups. Little one is moving about now so that can only be a good sign :)
