Gargle with hot water, salt and turmeric. It works!

That sounds odd Pinkles! For a nice drink, lemon barely squash, hot water and a teaspoon of honey, soothes nicely. I had a sore throat earlier this week but it only lasted 2 days in all

I agree with drinking hot lemon with honey in it. And if you get desperate you can put a soluble paracetamol in it (depending on your personal preferences regarding medicines in pregnancy of course. My midwife reckons it's fine so I've had the odd one when I've been desperate). Warm drinks of any kind will help a little, as long as they don't have milk in.

Gargling with warm salt water is a classic remedy in our family but it tends to make a me gag. Not tried it with turmeric though - must give that a go.

If you can get any traditional herbal throat sweets that don't have eucalyptus in, they're allowed during pregnancy. Not sure they actually work though - you probably might as well just suck on a boiled sweet to take your mind off it.

If all else fails - I have been known to just eat honey by the spoonful straight from the jar. Very soothing on the throat, if only for a few minutes. Not terribly good for the teeth though :-(

Turmeric is a natural antiseptic so it kills the nasties when you gargle. The salt sucks out the mucus. Not the most pleasant thing to do but it's pretty effective!
