is loss of appetite a normal symptom of iron deficiency, does anybody know? i've been absolutely shattered since friday, which i think i remember from my last pregnancy, though i don't remember it happening so suddenly, but also really don't want to eat anything, which is very peculiar for me... foetus kicking about as normal, so not too worried about her, but am feeling personally utterly dreadful. i know it takes a bit for iron supplements to kick in so won't panic yet or anything, but just wondering if the appetite thing is something else - anybody got any ideas?

I haven't had it personally. Are you at least forcing yourself to eat? I do very much have days where I'm just too tired to do much. It's possible that your deep sleep is being interrupted by the heat, bladder kicks, or something else? I've gone through two main phases of energy loss during my pregnancy - the initial halving of my abilities in the gym, and then not having the energy after 5 months of pregnancy to go to the gym at all (but now in month 8 I'm making myself swim, which is fine).

yes, i've been making myself eat a bit, just really not wanting to. i've been sleeping okay - not fantastically well, but not terrible either. i know it's a bit more than just pregnancy fatigue: having to sit down much more frequently than makes any sense, aching shoulders when attempting to do anything at all, just no energy. maybe eating requires too much energy...

thanks for replying, hope all going well with your pregnancy,

About three weeks (so at 22 thinking about it) I had a week like that and wondered exactly the same about iron, or whether my baby could be having a crazy growth spurt? anyway I felt like I was going to sleep at my desk at work and was worried that the OK bit of pregnancy was already over.

I forced myself to have a really idle week, and I'm now full of energy again. I hope your reason is as benign as mine - I was a bit freaked out .
