Washing baby clothes

Just wanted to share really- I had an overwhelming urge to get them in the machine at a silly time this morning - am only 25 weeks! Ridulously organised.

They are my ds clothes that were unisex from when he was a baby.

The memories! Gosh so emotional.

Thank god my DP hung them out or I would have been a wreck!

Anyone else get a daft nesting feeling this early on or has the rare sunshine just gone to my head??!!

I'm 29 weeks with my first and I've been having crazy nesting feelings for the past few days. It's really quite overwhelming! I never thought I'd be like this. I feel like washing the clothes all the time, cleaning, tidying up. Who am I and what have I done with my usual laid back self?!

I was the same and I think all the cleaning is natures way of saying "do it now as you won't be again for a while!"

DD is now 8 weeks and just starting to get the dusters out again Grin

33 weeks here and the urge is even stronger than it was a few weeks ago. DH doesn't want me doing housework anymore though because he says looking after DS (2yo) is enough and cleaning/laundry, etc on top is too much. Who am I to argue? :o

I've been writing insane lists and he's been doing my nesting for me. I'm getting silly urges though, today's list is:

  • cut grass and sweep path
  • wash the outside of the porch (it seems important for some reason)
  • wipe down all the white work in the house
  • clean the inside of the washing machine (!)

CBear6 - how do you clean the inside of your washing machine?! Doesn't it get cleaned when it cleans your clothes!?

I am 30 weeks and am possibly the only one who is not nesting! I am in complete denial, and intend to stay that way until I'm 39weeks Grin

CBear6 Your husband sounds great, can I borrow your him Grin?

Nesting has kicked in for me too, I am 25 weeks. Here is how I am doing it 8,000km away in Costa Rica:

-get house fumigated.
-fix gutters (its rainy season here)
-wash cot mosquitto net
-repair window mosquito nets
-pick up parcels from England from Post Office.

...but now I am wondering how clean the inside of my washing machine is HmmGrin

It was that stupid advert about the dish washer where all the grease is in the pipes - "how clean is your dishwasher really?". it gave me the wibbles about the washing machine being dirty and therefore all of our clothes being dirty. DH humoured me with only a few sniggers by putting some bleach in the drawer and running the cycle with an empty drum.

Bleach?! You're meant to use white vinegar! I just googled and read never to put bleach in the drawer! Grin I'm not sure what will happen though! Hmm

It's mild bleach, that Ace stuff. I've put regular bleach in before, some bit of blue fabric got trapped somewhere in the machine (DS has a habit of chucking random things into the drum and the drawer), I couldn't find them but was getting little blue streaks on all the clothes. I ran some bleach through to turn them white and the problem stopped, machine has been fine.

Wondering if I should redo it with vinegar now though :o

Ace will be fine- just follow with a 90 degree wash.

lovelybunch I'm 36 wks and haven't found my nesting instinct either! Everyone keeps telling me I'm weird!
I did wash all the baby's clothes and everything yesterday, but only because I thought I should, not because of any need or crazy impulse in me. Still haven't packed a hospital bag. Am hoping this means I'm just going to be a very relaxed mummy and not completely unprepared and useless

Oh good, I am not going mad, I am due today and in Sainsbury's this afternoon have gone and brought some washing machine cleaner because I am worrried it might be getting dirty.......

Vix- did you buy service-it? Have used that too and it's very good.

If anyone wants to take it to extreme cleaning levels get someone to uninstall and clean waste pipe at back. It's gross and sickening!

Thanks everyone now you've added "cleaning the washing machine" to my list!!! As if I don't have enough to do Angry Wink

I am dying to sort out baby's outfits but will have to wait for another month as we're getting wardrobes built in so I will probably spend 2 weeks just cleaning and tidying our clothes and then arranging the baby room ( and I am so excited I can't wait to start cleaning the house!! Blush)

I think my nesting instinct is kicking in... but combined with my general laziness when it comes to domestic chores, this has turned into manic list writing for DH. He is having a lovely weekend, as you can well imagine!!!! Blush

am 29 weeks, and can feel it kicking in - have even cleared out the ubiquitious ktichen drawer thats full of crap yesterday! And all the stuff I dump behind my mixer.......and now sat in the spare bedroom, looking at all the stuff I need to sort. DH has spent the entire weekend building shelves in the shed, as we need to clear out our garage for some work that needs doing....poor DD is parked in front of tv, but I can cope with the guilt as we spent 3 hours in the park earlier...phew........
It's bringing out the anally-retentive side of me......dear God, what is happening to me???????
