Dp and I have been ttc for a few months now and after seeing a couple of very faint lines, I am beginning to look ahead and think that to celebrate I should buy something baby related....just wondered of anyone else had this urge or is it just me???

I bought a teddy bear from work which is currently sitting in the nursery waiting for the baby, then waited until after the first scan and began buying in earnest!

Never had a BFP since I never took a test - found out in hospital when they thought I was suffering from appendicitis!

Three days after I found out, I was still so shocked I couldn't speak... my mother on the other hand had already bought a 6-piece outfit, a sleepsuit and the pram she wanted out of a catalogue!

First thing I did was buy a Tigger Sleepsuit after my 12-week scan - I didn't want to jinx it.

i threw up (thought it was nerves!), and then it continued for another 8 months (actually HG)

i didnt buy anything for the baby til I was 6 months, far too superstitious

I was too nervous to buy "nice" things straight away, but we went out to buy a pregnancy book to calm our nerves (can recommend What to Expect...) and the wandered round Ikea looking at cots al day :)

Went to waterstones and bought the pregnancy week by week book by Lesley Regan.

Did have a browse round mothercare etc (had been doing that already Blush but was too superstitious to buy anything.

Another one who bought pg books. There is a library and a bookshop in my village, but it's a small village and I didn't want anyone to know, so we had a night out to Borders in Leeds and had hot choc and buns in Starbucks.

went and looked at, and almost bought, one of those ridiculous old fashioned and stupidly expensive silver cross prams.

luckily common sense over-ruled baby fever.

I'll be 18 weeks on Wed and still haven't bought a single thing. I have got over my superstition of going ANYWHERE NEAR baby stuff in shops though Wink.

My Mum is coming to visit in a couple of weeks, and she admitted to not wanting to jinx anything either so we've agreed to buy something together!!

Ah yes I think we got folic acid on the same trip as buying the book. And then went to wetherspoons for a celebratory (alcohol free) lunch.

'My first Peter Rabbit' for the baby. He's still in the nursery patiently waiting for his owner to arrive and claim him.

A baby magazine, which is currently hiding in my handbag so stepson doesn't see it!

For dd1 we went to mothercare and bought a dr mirium Stoppard book and a few bras. We got in the car and opened the book randomly to see a placenta! We slammed it shut and didn't date look again for a few weeks.

i bought a pg book and dh bought a massive telly because "it was the end of our social life and we'd never go outside ther house again". Eight years and (almost) three babies later, i've finally read some of the chapters of the book and we got a smaller tv cos we're never really in to watch it!!

1st pregnancy i didnt want to jinx anything, so didnt buy a thing, ended up miscarrying so turned out to be a good thing.
2nd pregnancy i was 11weeks when i brought about 5items of clothing but miscarried the next day it very hard on you if you have baby things around you when you loose the baby, i remember cuddling them while i was crying and it just made it harder on myself.
3rd pregnancy i didnt buy a thing till after 12week scan which was a reward coz i went shopping the moment i left radiology :)
im 21weeks with my 2nd baby and only started buying things a few weeks ago lol.
I wish you all the very very best! excited for you and CONGRATULATIONS!!

We bought a little blue rabbit rattle from Mothercare after our 7 week scan, when we saw baby and a strong heartbeat. I bought one item of clothing after each scan (I get seen every 4 weeks during the first 2 trimesters and scanned each time) and then started shopping for some of the big items around 21 weeks.

With DC1 it was a pregnancy book to find out what we had got ourselves into
: )

After the 12 week scan I have bought the 3 of them, and have one waiting for no.4, a nice teddy bear.

I started sewing a blanket after each 12wk scan. Hopefully will still have time (energy)! with no 3!!
