Pregnancy

Raw pork- worried

Hi there everyone,

Im 10wks pregnant with my second child. Almost by chance i was looking at some mattesons pork fridge raiders in the supermarket today that i ate staying late at work about a month ago. I read the ingredients and to my horror it said made with 100% raw pork. Now Im full of worry that Ive eaten something that is a serious 'no no' in pregnancy- would they really contain raw pork?

I dont know what a fridge raider is, but if it is a month since you ate it j am pretty confident you'd have noticed by now had you given yourself food poisoning :)

I have no idea what mattesons pork fridge raiders are, but assuming they do in fact have 100% raw pork, then I still wouldn't worry. the whole raw meat thing is just precautionary - the chances of actually coming down with something are so slim.

also the reason they say to avoid raw meats is due to possibility of Toxoplasmosis - what they don't tell you is that 30% of British women are immune to it.

I think your baby is as much greater risk of you worrying and stressing yourself out over this than it is from what you ate a month ago!

Presumably they're made with raw pork and then cooked? Is it like the 100% chicken breast banners, basically just saying they're not made with eyelids and lips and such?

Sutely raw pork isnt allowed? Cos of tapeworm and trich-thungy.

Cheers for the responses. Its just the fact that it said that it was made with 100% raw pork on the packet- (not in the ingredients), whereas it could ve just said 100% pork thats got me worried. I accept that some of the infections mentioned would give me symptoms but toxoplasmosis is symptomless...

From the website, it seems all products are ready to eat and therefore cooked, no need to worry.
